- Places lived: Syracuse, New York and New York City
- Education: Master of Arts, Journalism from Syracuse University
- Destination expert for: New York City - I’ve lived and worked in New York City for all of my adult life. There’s no other place on earth that has such a mix of cultures, such high energy, and so many different types of neighborhoods crammed into one tiny island.
- Always in my suitcase: My High Sierra 3-In-1 Carry-On Wheeled Duffrite suitcase. It has wheels for rolling along city streets, but also turns into a backpack for when you have to walk through rougher terrain. Plus, it has lots of separate compartments to keep my things super organized.

Ace Hotel NY
- Pearls: Rating: 3.5 Pearls
- Location: Flatiron, Manhattan
- Price: $260/night
A hip hotel in an unhip neighborhood. The meticulously curated, vintage-inspired design will be a turn-off for some -- the Ace doesn't aspire to most conventional notions of luxury -- but the property is as cool, comfortable, and inviting in its own way as any fancy downtown hipster boutique. Rooms are a bit small, and in some cases dark. But service is solid and the rates are usually very fair.
