Oyster Hotel Reviews Announces the Official Launch of the Oyster Blog
Site to Serve as Daily Source of Noteworthy, Yet Often Entertaining Hotel News and Information
NEW YORK, NY September 9, 2009 - Oyster Hotel Reviews announced the official launch of its blog (blog.oyster.com) today, promising consumer-oriented hotel advice that makes the difficult task of finding the right place to stay easier. Drawing on the experience of its professional reporting staff and more than 600 under-cover reviews of hotels in the US and Caribbean, the Oyster Blog is a daily source of hotel news that's as accurate and reliable as it is entertaining to read.
Among the already popular features on the blog, which soft-launched in late June, are "Photo Fakeouts," in which photos taken by Oyster reporters while anonymously on assignment are compared to the often-misleading marketing photos found on hotel websites, and "Bundle Breakdowns," in which the benefits--or drawbacks--of various hotel packages are meticulously analyzed. Though only officially launched today, the blog has already garnered positive acclaim from consumer advocates like Christopher Elliott (www.consumertraveler.com) and Ben Popken (www.consumerist.com).
"While Oyster's core mission is providing accurate, authoritative and useful hotel reviews for travelers," Oyster CEO Elie Seidman says, "The daily updates of our bloggers extend that conversation and give potential guests even more tools to make informed decisions when choosing hotels."
Heading the effort is Jenna Bromberg, the former editor of the industry blog HotelChatter; Jenna is also a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. Assisting her is Oyster reporter Paul Brady, the former editor of the widely read travel blog Jaunted. Also contributing is the rest of Oyster's team of professional reporters, who've previously been published in outlets like The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Conde Nast Traveler.
