Jessica F. -- Oyster Reporter
Jessica is a left-handed, native New Yorker. She is the person who constantly gets stopped on the street by strangers for directions or to have their photo taken, which makes her an ideal reporter for Oyster.com. She once slept in a couchette on a train going from Paris to Madrid with three Spanish nuns, and another time she slept on the floor of a castle in Bavaria. She enjoys learning random information about places she visits. (For example, did you know the largest gentleman's club in Las Vegas -- Sapphire -- employs 6,000 women?) She's never met a spa she didn't like.

- My Favorite Hotel: Stanza Mare Coral Comfort, in the Dominican Republic. Away from the all-inclusive pandemonium, this quiet hotel has lovely apartment-style rooms and direct access to a virtually empty beach, and it's walking distance to some interesting nonresort restaurants, including the beachside Italian expat Huracan Cafe. (Try the linguine with lobster and truffle oil!)
My Favorite Hotels
1
Stanza Mare Coral Comfort
- Pearls: Rating: 3.5 Pearls
- Location: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
- Price: $190/night
More like a beachside condo than a hotel, the Stanza offers full kitchens in its 103 clean, modern, 1- to 3-bedroom suites -- they're some of the D.R.'s largest and snazziest for the price. It's a small property, with no gym or spa, but some excellent restaurants can be found both on-site and off. But the beach comes with some annoying vendors.
2
Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace Resort
- Pearls: Rating: 3.5 Pearls
- Location: La Romana, Dominican Republic
- Price: $130/night
Viva's beach has some of the softest sand and calmest water in the D.R., and it's clearly the main draw at this Italian-owned, Italian-focused, 330-room resort. The outdated rooms are pretty basic, but the food and activities are a notch above, and the beach is reason enough to head to this all-inclusive.
