Hotel La Pineta

Hotel La Pietra is housed in a classic, white Mediterranean building encircled a wrought-iron balcony and surrounded by a beautiful garden and patio. The chic outdoor lounge has a white pergola and columns, a few pieces of stylish wicker furniture, and -- as a centerpiece -- a blue and white tile fountain with Moroccan-style lanterns hanging overhead.

These ceramic, hand-painted tiles are found throughout the entire property, and hail from the seaside town of Vietri sul Mare, about two hours to the north. The lobby floor is covered with them, and the room's style mirrors that of the outdoor lounge; it is characterized by high ceilings, wide columns, and shades of clean white and deep blue. The large room feels grand but not overwhelming. Big windows let in natural light and fresh air, and plants and flowers add color and freshness to the space. A wide door leads out to the pool, which is surrounded by a wood deck and has attractive views of the hills. Hallways give guests access to their rooms as well as the outdoor spaces.

Tucked into a quiet street in the small village of Acciaroli, the hotel is in a quiet, private location that still allows easy accessibility to the nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. Most dining and entertainment options are a short five-minute walk away, and it's about a block to the water and the hotel’s private beach. The property itself is surrounded by gardens and wide plazas, with the main building enclosed by patios, the pool area, and greenery that provide guests with peace and solitude.

The rooms are clean and quaint, if not quite luxurious, with classic touches such as painted tile floors, ornate mirrors, arches built into the stucco walls, wrought-iron bed frames, and the occasional antique. Color schemes vary, but feel inspired by the sun and sea; white woods are contrasted against fabrics and wall accents in blues, yellows, or greens. Standard rooms are on the smaller side, while the larger suites can include private plunge pools and gardens. All rooms include air-conditioning, safes, minibars, and private patios or balconies (some with sea views), as well as free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. Bathrooms have more painted tile, as well as bidets and walk-in showers (but no tubs).
