Bottom Line

The Park Hotel is a stylish property near the Museum Quarter. A cozy library, art gallery, and fun, contemporary design give the hotel a boutique feel. Rooms are modern and include great amenities such as flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, minibars, and highly praised signature beds. The lobby has an appealing fireplace, and the trendy Momo Restaurant serves Pan Asian fare. Other hotel features include a modern fitness center with personal trainers available (open 24 hours), bike and Vespa rentals, and a bar off the lobby. The hotel caters well to business travelers as well, featuring 9 possible event spaces , meeting packages, and audiovisual equipment. But the hotel's hip style and kid-friendly amenities (cribs, high chairs, and babysitting services are available) keep a diverse crowd of traverlers coming through its doors. With a great location between Vondelpark and the Canal Ring, this hotel is a great pick for those who don't mind having to take the tram to the sights in the Old Center.

Oyster Hotel Review

Park Centraal Amsterdam

Location

A couple of blocks from the Museum Quarter, within walking distance to Canal Ring attractions

The Park Hotel is located right off the Singelgracht Canal in the Vondelpark neighborhood. It is two blocks to the Museum Quarter, and a few minutes’ walk to attractions, nightlife, and shopping. There are several bus stops and a tram stop within three blocks of the hotel. Many of Amsterdam’s tourist attractions are within walking distance, and other sights in the Old Center can be reached easily via public transportation. The hip De Pijp neighborhood can also be reached on foot.

Marked by cobblestone streets, canals, and an abundance of coffee shops (which are most often known for something other than coffee), Amsterdam is both a quiet and lively city without the pretention of some other European metropolises.

In the summer, visitors can enjoy live music at the Openluchttheater, an open-air venue at the Vondelpark, or the Roots Music Festival. The Gay Pride parade also takes place in the summer, and the city's many museums -- including the Van Gogh Museum or the Anne Frank House, where Frank and her family hid from the Nazis during World War 2 -- are popular year-round. Visitors in April can experience Queen's Day, which celebrates the queen's birthday and includes a massive flea market, parties, and outdoor concerts.

  • 14-minute drive to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
  • Half a block from the northeastern tip of Vondelpark
  • 3-minute walk to designer shopping along Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat
  • 3-minute walk to Hobbemastraat‎ tram and bus station
  • 3-minute walk to Paradiso concert venue
  • 3-minute walk to the Amsterdam Museum
  • 4-minute walk to the Rijksmuseum
  • 5-minute walk to dozens of restaurants and shops
  • 5-minute walk to Theater Bellevue
  • 6-minute walk to the Van Gogh Museum
  • 9-minute walk to Stedelijk Museum
  • 10-minute walk to the Heineken Brewery
  • 11-minute bus ride to Anne Frank House
  • 11-minute tram ride to the Royal Palace of Amsterdam
  • 13-minute tram ride to Dam Square, home to the National Monument and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
  • 17-minute tram ride to the Red Light District
  • 20-minute tram ride to the Rembrandt House Museum
  • 8-minute drive to Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Center
