You can look like a glamorous New York City socialite, or just a fresher, prettier version of yourself when you drop by The Kimara Ahnert Makeup Studio on 113 Madison Avenue, which is within walking distance of the Marmara Manhattan and the Surrey hotels in the Upper East Side. Makeup artist Kimara Ahnert has worked with stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Isabella Rossellini, and she offers everything from make up lessons to facials to self-tanning applications. The studio almost feels like a lavish apartment with its plush Swiss robes and Louis XIV chairs.

Getting your make up done here is a more intimate experience than at the cosmetics counter at Bloomingdale’s. The staff really takes the time to teach you how to recreate the look on your own and even draws you a diagram with directions to guide you when you’re back at home. The studio offers the “Madison Avenue Makeover,” which includes a classic facial, a makeup lesson, and eyebrow shaping. If you’re looking to give your complexion a glow, try the Eminence Facial with the paprika treatment. The facialist massages masques made from organically grown herbs and flowers into your skin, and applies paprika to boost your circulation. She’ll also offer a steam and extractions so that your face will look healthy and refreshed.
