Three Reasons Why Riad Noir d’Ivoire is the Top-Rated Hotel in Marrakech

Behind Casablanca and Rabat, Marrakech is the third largest city in Morocco. Travelers head to this African destination to ride camels in the luxe, palm tree-laden area of Palmerai, or haggle in the souks (markets) for items like fragrant spices and hand-woven baskets. While accommodations range from budget-friendly hostels to extravagant palaces, many tourists opt to stay in one of the unique riads, or guesthouses with internal courtyards. Thanks to our friends at TripAdvisor, we've found that users' top-rated hotel in Marrakech is the Riad Noir d'Ivoire, with 97% of its reviews scoring in the highest "Excellent" category. Here's an inside look so you can see why guests rave about this boutique property.

1. Luxe Decorations and Designer Furniture

Like many riads, the plain exterior here hides the sumptuous decor that guests find once they walk through the door. The historic Riad Noir d’Ivoire was completely restored for discerning luxury sensibilities — traditional architecture, inlay work, and carved iron windows all adorn the building.

Inside, there are Moroccan antiques, Berber artwork, and modern designer furniture that give the hotel both an elegant and authentic feel. Several courtyards and breezy rooms for lounging are filled with hanging lanterns, overstuffed leather sofas, and tables on which meals can be served.

2. The Rooms: Nine, Individually Decorated Digs

Riad Noir d’Ivoire has nine spacious rooms — five suites, two junior suites, and two regular rooms — that are all individually decorated in sumptuous combinations of Moroccan antiques and European designer furnishings in a warm, earth-toned color palette. The spacious rooms have large, comfortable beds, comfortable sitting areas, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, minibars with alcohol, and ornately carved windows looking out on the courtyards.

Some of the higher-category rooms also have fireplaces, separate living areas, dual vanities, and private balconies with hot tubs. Bathrooms are large and modern, with designer fixtures and walk-in rainfall showers, although higher-tier ones also include bath tubs

3. Features: Serene Pools, Lounge Bar, and Hammam

Its courtyards are notably large, with two serene, heated pools and plenty of space for lounging and dining. A homemade, free breakfast is served wherever guests would like to eat each morning, though extra orders incur a charge. The kitchen serves delicious French and Moroccan food throughout the day, and the staff will deliver it throughout the property.

There’s also an acclaimed on-site hammam and a small, breezy fitness center. Unlike at many Moroccan riads, alcohol is available here, most notably in the sultry lounge bar, and there’s a self-playing piano whose music wafts through the courtyards.
