Way Too Crowded

By Pam Pieroni on Oct 25, 2011

I was here during the spring break in April and it was wall to wall people. SOOO many children. The pool area was tough to navigate around. THe beach was lovely but you had to get up pretty early in the a.m. to try and get a chair and umbrella. If you want room to breathe, don't stay here.

Our annual visit to Aruba

By Gerri Davie from Randolph, NJ on Sep 23, 2011

We travel to Aruba every year and always stay on the Marriott properties. The hotel is spotless, the beach is the best and the service is wonderful. The Marriott Ocean Club is also a great place to stay. We prefer to dine at our favorite restaurants on the island rather than the hotel restaurants. We look forward to this getaway every year, it is total relaxation, sun and fun!

Annual trip to Aruba. Most recent stay Aug-Sept 2011

By Gerri Davie from Randolph, NJ on Sep 16, 2011

We travel to Aruba every year and always stay on the Marriott properties, either the hotel or the Ocean Club. The hotel is spotless, gives excellent service. Their beach is the best of all the hotels. during the "high season" there is a high demand for a palapa on the beach. You can reserve a palapa for a few days and avoid the early morning rush, it is worth it. A new "adult only" pool will be ready in 2012 to be available to hotel & Ocean club adult guests. This will be very popular. Have lunch at the poolside cafe and ask for Jasmine as your server. She is so pleasant and always says that "it is her pleasure " to serve you. In the evening, Roy will hail a cab for you with his big smile and warm welcome. We highly recommend the Marriott for a wonderful stay on this wonderful island!

Beautiful hotel and great value. Not enough beach umbrellas

By from Ridgewood, NJ on Sep 18, 2009

I stayed at the Aruba Marriott four years ago and at the time the hotel policy, due to the shortage of beach umbrellas, was to make hotel guests line up at 6:30 AM to get on the list for one. Having a 6-month-old child did not get me preferential treatment. After 5 days of line-ups, thoroughly exhausted and mosquito-bitten, I was happy to go home. I hope they now have enough umbrellas. Definitely inquire about this when checking in.

Beach Umbrellas

By Jennifer on Sep 21, 2009

Hi Vanessa - Thanks for writing in! Hotels are updating their amenities and services all the time, so it's certainly possible that things have changed for the better in the last four years. Our reporter who visited more recently found that there were "plenty of chairs" on the beach, though we don't speak to the umbrella situation. Regardless, we certainly agree that it's always good to inquire with hotels about their amenities and policies before deciding where to book.

Family Vacation Destination

By Anne Marie Ficco from Pittsburgh, PA on Jun 26, 2009

We have been to the Marriott in Aruba twice both times using points through the Marriott. We were able to stay for free. The rooms are quite large for a family of four with a nice sized balcony. My only complaint is getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve a beach cabana. I am the early riser, but getting up at six am on vacation is asking alot. You must wait in line until the reservation stand opens at 7:00am. Believe me there is a line at 6:00 am. The beach is very crowded, but it is wide and the water is clear. We had no problem finding excellent dining choices as we rented a jeep and found driving to be very easy. I would not recommend baby beach (Not worth the drive) but exploring other beaches and taking the snorkeling and jeep tours were the highlight of our vacation.

Perfect for the professional family

By Tom from Cleveland,Oh on Jun 26, 2009

Have stayed twice before, including last year while renovations were being completed. Very clean, well maintained property. Great pool and beach for children to play. Nice layout for watching their activities. Had a car to explore the island and dined at some very nice spots throughout the island. Ruth Chris was nice with very good food & service. Safe location where mom could walk on beach at night with children, while dad was in the casino! Going back in 4 weeks!
