Bottom Line

Travaasa Austin is closed and will reopen as Miraval Austin in late 2018. We will update our photos and review as soon as possible. Travaasa Austin is an upscale spa resort set on a hilltop of a gorgeous nature preserve with forested canyons, about half an hour from downtown Austin. Its 72 rooms are housed in seven buildings and offer private balconies with beautiful canyon or garden views. Hiking trails, an infinity-edge pool enclosed by a wooden deck, and a luxurious spa are just some of the amenities here, and there's a restaurant serving organic, local fare, with many of the ingredients used sourced from the hotel's own farm. The serene atmosphere is furthered by the over-16 policy. For something kid-friendly, travelers might want to consider the Lakeway Resort and Spa instead, which is scenically set on Lake Travis and also has a pool, spa, kids’ play area, and waterslide.

Miraval Austin Resort & Spa

Scene

A relaxing escape from the hectic pace of everyday life

This upscale spa resort is bucolically set amid ancient live oaks, cypress trees, and forested hills of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, offering a nature-filled retreat with a vast array of activities. Comprising seven buildings, the property commands beautiful views of its green surroundings and undulating topography. The gorgeous grounds offer plenty of charming corners to relax in and take in the scenic views, be it by the stunning infinity pool or walking the hiking trails. Contemporary interiors are stylish with a country vibe; a cozy fireplace lounge is filled with leather couches, while the light and airy restaurant features high, wood-slatted ceilings and large windows filling the space with light and green views. Nature and the outdoors take center stage here, however, as the surroundings are truly spectacular and the vast grounds offer a relaxing, tranquil atmosphere. Furthermore, an over-16 policy maintains a serene ambience throughout.
