Best Hotel Beaches in the Bahamas (14 of 15)

The beach in front of Old Bahama Bay offers far more privacy than you'd find at any other beach on Grand Bahama. Because the beach faces a protected cove to the north, rather than the Atlantic Ocean to the south, the water in the bay is very calm and warmer than it is elsewhere in the Bahamas. And unlike other resorts, guests never have to fight for lounge chairs and the resort provides beach towels. And the water is so clear, you can spy schools of fish swimming at your ankles. Atlantis generally goes over the top, and in that vein the hotel features not one beach, but three. Atlantis Beach is the renamed tail end of Cabbage Beach, one of the nicest stretches of sand in the Nassau area (shared with Riu Paradise Island, among other resorts). While the best of the three, Atlantis Beach can become very crowded with cruise ship passengers and the thousands of Atlantis resort guests. Cove Beach, technically exclusive to guests of the Cove resort-within-a-resort, has a more tranquil atmosphere. Paradise Beach, the most remote of the three, is a fine place for romantic walks to the lighthouse. With its wide swath of sand and its gentle turquoise waves, Cable Beach, on which this hotel sits, is considered the finest beach in Nassau. The warm, clean water has moderate waves, but the water gets deep quickly, so it may not be ideal for young children. Fortunately, there's a lifeguard (sometimes). There are a fair number of vendors selling items on the beach; but this is common at just about any large-scale resort in the Bahamas. The Radisson's picturesque beachfront is 7.5 acres of clean, sugary sand. Towels and beach chairs are free for hotel guests, and the shore is bustling with water-sports vendors (not affiliated with the hotel) who offer kayaks, snorkeling gear, Jet Skis, banana boats, parasailing, and more. Plenty of cruise ship passengers buy day passes to access the Radisson's beach, but luckily there's space for everyone -- most of the time.
