Oyster Hotel Review
Contemporary hotel with a modern look both inside and out
The building that houses Ayre Hotel Rosellon was constructed in 2009 and its modern exterior (complete with a glass front entrance), sleek furnishings, and chic design aesthetic make for a cool, contemporary vibe. The lobby is airy and light-filled, with a very high ceiling. A neutral mix of slate and glass serves as the backdrop and allows the vibrant art and colorful furniture to take center stage. This hip vibe continues throughout the public spaces, including the rooftop deck whose plunge pool and beautiful views have made it a popular gathering space for guests.
A few blocks from the Sagrada Familia and also close to a metro station with access to central Barcelona.
Tourists for whom Sagrada Familia is at the top of the sightseeing list will be thrilled with the location of Ayre Hotel Rosellon. It's a few blocks from Gaudi's famous work and there's views of the attraction from the hotel's rooftop terrace and some guest rooms. There's also a metro station and bus stop within walking distance of the hotel, making for easy access via public transport to central Barcelona. The hotel is located in the Eixample neighborhood, the 19th-century historic district that's home to upscale shopping and plenty of restaurants and cafes, especially along the Passeig de Gracia.
Modern rooms, some with views of Sagrada Familia
Keeping with the overall modern design aesthetic of the hotel's public spaces, the 105 rooms at Ayre Hotel Rosellon have a neutral backdrop with [ pops of bright colors]. Cool details punch up the sleek decor, such as black-and-white photo murals and funky hanging lamps with a mod look. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but some guests have complained that the beds are uncomfortable. Noise from outside the hotel can sometimes be an issue as well. Rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges and free Wi-Fi; bathrooms have hairdryers. Gaudi fans may enjoy the rooms with views of Sagrada Familia.
The rooftop terrace -- complete with plunge pool and views -- is popular with hotel guests
Ayre Hotel Rosellon has many of the amenities one would expect from an upper-middle-range hotel, including a restaurant and a roof terrace complete with a plunge pool. The views of Sagrada Familia from the roof terrace are excellent, making it a popular place for guests to gather. But the hotel lacks a fitness center and true pool, so travelers who value these amenities will want to choose another property. Wi-Fi is free, but parking comes at an additional cost. For business travelers, there is a small business center.
