From the illuminated stone walls of the lobby to the rich textures and muted tones in the guest rooms, the Hesperia Presidente is a lovely hotel that exudes an understated elegance. Rates are competitive for the Eixample neighborhood, and contemporary rooms offer modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The rooftop sun deck with potted plants is a pretty spot for checking out city views, though it is sparsely furnished. The hotel also offers a small fitness center, numerous event spaces, and a somewhat pricey restaurant. It is close to shops and cafes, but the nearest metro stop is a bit of a walk.

Hesperia Presidente is located in Eixample on Avinguda Diagonal -- the road that literally splits Barcelona in half. This central area of Barcelona is home to the city's best examples of modernist architecture, including the Casa Milá building and Sagrada Família church that were both designed by Antoni Gaudí. Landmarks, shops, restaurants, and the city's main soccer stadium are all less than a 15-minute walk away from the hotel. For further explorations, visitors can hop on a train at the Diagonal metro station. It can be reached on foot in 13 minutes, though the distance seems a bit far for a city dotted with metro stops.
In addition to its eccentric architecture, Eixample is known for a vibrant nightlife scene, with many trendy bars and clubs found here, especially in the gay section (which is popularly known as Gayxample).
