In the Montjuic neighborhood, close to office and government buildings, the Magic Fountain, and Placa d'Espanya
The Hotel Fira Palace is located in the Montjuic area of the city, which is a hub for office and government buildings. It is a bit far from tourist spots, with the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia around a 20-minute subway ride away. A lesser known attraction, the Magic Fountain, is within walking distance of the hotel and features music and light shows on specific nights. Also nearby is the famous Placa d'Espanya public square, as well as the shopping and entertainment center Arenes De Barcelona. Conveniently close dining options include several tapas bars and restaurants, as well as various bakeries for breakfast and coffee. Barcelona's historic center can be reached via bus or metro (the Poble Sec and Placa Espanya metro stations are both near the hotel).
Barcelona is an eclectic city that is popular for its historic and remarkable architecture, vibrant club scene, and urban beaches along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of the Catalan region, Barcelona speaks its own language -- literally and figuratively. Known for a frenetic pace, the city is full of modernist architecture, medieval history, quirky fashion, and endless tapas bars. Located on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the city has a Mediterranean climate with mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers.
Situated near the Magic Fountain in Barcelona's Monjuic neighborhood, the Fira Palace is a 276-room hotel chock-full of amenities. Stand-out features include an indoor pool with waterfall features, an impressive fitness center that is much larger than typical European hotel gyms, and the lovely El Mall restaurant that offers Mediterranean cuisine in a cozy, brick-walled dining room. Rooms are large, with big bathrooms and plenty of space to accommodate sofas, desks, and other furnishings. Decor varies, though, with some rooms looking quite dated. The hotel is well-suited for business travelers, given its conference facilities and easy access to the fair grounds.
