The Petit Palace Opera Garden is a budget-friendly, contemporary hotel in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. This 61-room hotel is located on a charming side street and features a beautiful courtyard garden with trees that are over 100 years old. Modern rooms are on the small side, and have a purple and white sheet music theme. Family rooms -- with bunk beds -- are available in addition to regular double rooms. While there have been some complaints about street noise and general wear and tear, rooms have modern touches such as laptops, free Wi-Fi, and big flat-screen TVs. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the cobblestone streets and others have bathtubs. Other hotel highlights include free bike rentals and a nice breakfast room serving a buffet each morning (for a fee).
In the heart of the Gothic Quarter, a few blocks from the opera house
The Petit Palace Opera Garden is located in a historic building on a side street in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. The hotel is easy walking distance from both the opera house and Las Ramblas, the bustling pedestrian-friendly street known for shopping. Hotel guests have easy access to La Boqueria market and Passeig de Gracia for upscale shopping. Attractions a little further away can be reached by utilizing the Liceu Metro station near the hotel. The Aerobus also stops a short distance from the hotel and offers direct access to Barcelona International Airport (a much cheaper alternative than a taxi).
Barcelona -- a cosmopolitan hub for arts, culture, and nightlife -- is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia. Located on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the city has a Mediterranean climate with mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers.
