Hilton Berlin

The high-end Hilton Berlin is situated in a beautiful eight-story beige corner building with a rust-red roof, a colonnade-style bottom floor, and second-story arched windows. Guests enter into a spacious two-story lobby with a white tiled floor, beige walls, rising columns, and a central floor-to-ceiling window. Little nooks and rectangles of swirled carpets set out private sitting areas with leathery couches and button-tufted armchairs in brown and beige. A black baby grand piano sits near the lobby bar, while a modern fireplace and lit lantern accents lend a cozy feel. While the decor here is straightforward with a neutral color palette, it's also tasteful, clean, and classy. This hotel is geared toward business travelers attending events right at the hotel and leisure travelers who might want to take advantage of the spa and exceptional location. 

The Hilton Berlin is situated on a bustling street in the center of the popular Mitte district, directly across from the historic Gendarmenmarkt Square. The famous Friedrich Street (Friedrichstraße), full of shopping and restaurants, is just two blocks away (a three-minute walk). The nearest U-Bahn is also situated here. Many of Berlin's popular sights are located nearby and reachable on foot, including Checkpoint Charlie (a nine-minute walk), Museum Island (a 12-minute walk), Brandenburg Gate (a 17-minute walk), and Potsdamer Platz Square (also a 17-minute walk). Berlin Tegel Airport is about 25 minutes away by car, and Berlin Schonefeld Airport is about half an hour away. Limited parking (self and valet) is available at the hotel, but it costs extra. 

Rooms at Hilton Berlin are tasteful, with a neutral beige, brown, and cream color palette. Rooms are accented with wood furniture and wall trim, as well as striped wall-to-wall carpeting in brown and cream, reminiscent of wood grain. A few pieces of furniture give a fashionably retro twist, such as the cup-shaped tan leathery armchairs and jet-black, squiggle-shaped table lamps. But it all comes together for a coordinated, refined look, if a little bland. White tiled bathrooms with black floors have shower/tub combos and come with bathrobes, hairdryers, and free toiletries. Views are of the courtyard or city, and higher, specially designated Dome View rooms may have exceptional views of the dome in Gendarmenmarkt Square.

Rooms range from entry-level Single Hilton Guestrooms clear up to Suites and all include individually controlled air-conditioning, desks with ergonomic chairs, 47-inch flat-screen satellite TVs, minibars, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. In-room Wi-Fi costs extra. 

The hotel has a huge range of services and property features aimed at business guests and leisure travelers alike. There are several on-site dining choices, including Listo, a lobby lounge and bar offering drinks and casual dining. Restaurant Beletage and the Restaurant Mark Brandenburg both offer views of the Gendarmenmarkt. The Domcurry sits across the street and offers local, casual fare (like currywurst) and seasonal outdoor seating right along the Gendarmenmarkt. A breakfast buffet is available, but it costs an extra fee, and some guests find the food throughout the hotel pricey. Room service is available 24/7.

The hotel has a lot of wellness facilities, including a gym, a sauna, and an indoor pool, though access to the spa (including the saunas and pool) costs an extra facility fee. The spa offers a range of massages, body scrubs, manicures, pedicures, and other treatments, and the wellness area also includes saunas and a relaxation room with heated waterbeds. The indoor pool is small but well-maintained. The gym is decently equipped and includes modern cardio machines and Precor strength-training equipment. Personal training sessions are available, as are some fitness classes, though they both cost extra. Bike rental is also available. 

For business guests, the hotel has audiovisual equipment for rent, 15 event and meeting rooms, and a grand ballroom that can host up to 500 people. Guests staying in higher-category rooms get access to the Executive Lounge, which includes free snacks, breakfast, and afternoon tea, in addition to computer workstations, free Wi-Fi, and other perks. 

For families, the hotel has children's menus, cribs, high chairs, and a babysitting service. The Hilton also offers food/water bowls for pets, though four-legged guests cost an extra fee. Other features include a car-rental desk, concierge services, and even a hair salon and a convenience store. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, but in-room Wi-Fi costs extra.
