Bottom Line

This three-and-a-half pearl Bologna property was built in 2009 and has 139 rooms. It’s a popular choice for business travelers due to its proximity to the exhibition center and the excellent on-site facilities provided for those on business. Despite being outside out of the city center, it caters well for tourists too -- the regular shuttle bus into Bologna is convenient. Rooms have high ceilings and stylish furniture. Overall, the Hotel Cosmopolitan offers good value with freebies like parking, Wi-Fi, and continental breakfast, and it’s lower priced than the more central hotels.

Hotel Cosmopolitan Bologna

Scene

Fresh, modern, and vibrant

The entrance to the Cosmopolitan is smart and impressive. A revolving glass door takes guests into the stylish lobby area where there’s a modern, illuminated reception desk surrounded by flat-screen TVs, contemporary chandeliers, and white leather chairs. There’s a fresh, clean, and vibrant feel that continues throughout the property. The restaurant has a black, red, and white color scheme and the hallways have a modern, red and gray checkerboard carpet.

Location

In the heart of Bologna’s business district

Located in Bologna's business district, this hotel is ideally placed for those visiting the exhibition center -- one of the largest in Europe. For those who are driving, this property is very close to the motorway and ring road, and of course there’s the great bonus of free parking at the hotel. For visitors wishing to take in a little culture on their trip, it's also near to the National Art Gallery of Bologna. There's nothing of interest within walking distance of the hotel -- apart from the adjacent mall -- as it's on a busy road and there are no sidewalks, but there’s a shuttle bus into the city center and taxis are easy to come by.

Rooms

Trendy and clean with high ceilings

Rooms at the Cosmopolitan are trendy and vibrant. There's flock-patterned wallpaper, mood lighting, leather headboards, and pops of bright orange and red among the neutral, earthy tones. Bathrooms are large and stylish, with cream and brown tiling, modern white fixtures, and big walk-in showers. Superior Rooms have either a bathtub and shower, or a double shower, while the Junior Suites have a hot tub. Facilities include a minibar, coffee- and tea-making facilities, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with digital channels, a hairdryer, and room service during limited hours. With business guests particularly in mind there’s also a desk, complimentary newspaper, and an in-room safe designed to fit a laptop. Past guests have occasionally complained about exterior noise and some rooms overlook the parking lot.

Features

Good restaurant and excellent conference center

The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- continental breakfast is included in the cost of the room. A la carte meals here are good too, using high quality fresh, seasonal produce to create contemporary dishes. The bar offers guests classic Italian and international wine, as well as some artisan Italian beers. The front desk is open 24-hours a day and there’s free parking and Wi-Fi for all guests. A well-priced shuttle bus into the city center is provided by the hotel five times a day, and there’s a free shuttle bus to the exhibition center. Where this property excels is the conference center. There are five modular meeting rooms which can be arranged as needed -- providing space for up to 130 delegates. The latest audio visual technology is available here and the hotel is more than happy to arrange coffee breaks and lunches for those attending meetings and conferences.
