Be Trimos Hotel

Location

In the heart of San Telmo, a bohemian neighborhood with some seedy parts, but close to major tourist attractions

The Axel stands on a narrow street smack-dab in the heart of San Telmo, a few blocks from some of the main thoroughfares in Buenos Aires, like Avenida 9 de Julio, Avenida Belgrano, and Avenida de Mayo, and close to the subway ("Subte"). There are cafes, shops, restaurants, and a couple of small museums within a three-block radius.

San Telmo is the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, home to some of the best tango shows in the capital. Its cobblestone streets, popular weekly market, antique shops, and bohemian vibe, along with its numerous restaurants and bars, and its fading grandeur, make it one of the most visited places in Buenos Aires. It might sometimes feel a bit of a tourist trap, but only in the main areas -- others can be somewhat seedy at night.

This area offers easy access to most of the major tourist attractions in the downtown area, like the Casa Rosada, the Obelisk, and Puerto Madero, plus proximity to four subway lines.

  • 20-minute drive to Jorge Newbery Airport
  • 35-minute drive to Ministro Pistarini/Ezeiza International Airport
  • 10-minute walk to Casa Rosada, the Presidential Palace
  • 10-minute walk to popular San Telmo Market
  • 10-minute walk to the Metropolitan Cathedral
  • 15-minute walk to Plaza Dorrego
  • 15-minute walk to the Museum of Modern Art
  • 20-minute walk to the Obelisk, one of the most recognizable sights in Buenos Aires
  • 20-minute walk to Calle Florida, a main shopping area
  • 20-minute walk to Puerto Madero, full of bars and restaurants
  • 10-minute drive to Colon Theatre
  • 10-minute drive to the Boca Juniors stadium
  • 15-minute drive to iconic Caminito, a colorful neighborhood
  • 15-minute drive to upscale Retiro neighborhood
  • 15-minute drive to Recoleta neighborhood, home to interesting architecture and historic sights
