Bottom Line

This mid-range business hotel stands out only for its ultra-convenient location on the northern side of downtown Buenos Aires. Adequate rooms are large and bright, but have dated decor and feel very bare bones. Business rooms are newer with a more contemporary -- although decidedly masculine -- decor and offer nice perks such as stylish glass-enclosed bathrooms and LG sound systems. The outdoor swimming pool is a plus, and great freebies -- a solid breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and parking -- add to the value.

Elevage Buenos Aires Hotel

Location

In Retiro, within walking distance to major attractions, shopping, and dining

The Elevage is located on a slightly seedy street in the busy Retiro neighborhood, an area in northern Microcentro, the core of downtown Buenos Aires. It’s equidistant from two of the main thoroughfares in town, site-packed 9 de Julio, and Leandro N. Alem Avenue, which offers easy access to some tourist attractions further south, such as Boca and Caminito. There are several subway lines within walking distance from the hotel, and there are lots of restaurants and bars in the immediate neighborhood.

There’s so much to see and do in Microcentro that some visitors never leave this area when visiting Buenos Aires. It is the core of downtown, with wonderful shopping areas like Calle Florida, tourist attractions such as Colon Theater and iconic Obelisk, entertainment venues, an interesting dining scene, and a wide array of hotels. It is also one of the few areas in Buenos Aires that is well connected via subway to the rest of the city.
