The 160-room Hotel Cristoforo Colombo is hard to miss -- the facade is adorned with an enormous silver sign and fading flags that mark the entrance to this older high-rise property. Amenities include a funky circular pool, small play area, and tiny spa. The fitness center looks bright and modern, but much of the rest of the property is starting to show its age. Guest rooms look especially tired, with outdated furnishings and tube TVs. Free Wi-Fi and daily breakfast are nice perks, but the big draw is the hotel's great location close to parks and restaurants in Palermo.

Hotel Cristoforo Colombo is located near Santa Fe Avenue, walking distance to La Rural Convention Center and Palermo Woods -- a peaceful city park with landscaped paths and a lake. The trendier Palermo Soho area is great for shopping and nightlife and can be reached by foot in 15 minutes. Palermo Viejo -- also within walking distance -- has a thriving restaurant scene, though there are good dining options in the immediate vicinity of the hotel as well.
Palermo is a massive neighborhood in the northeastern part of Buenos Aires, only 15 minutes away from the downtown area or Microcentro. To get to tourist sites in and around the center of Buenos Aires, guests can take the subway or bus (both are a few blocks away). The hotel staff will gladly arrange for taxis or transfers.
