The Hotel de las Americas is located in the heart of one of the most upscale and safe neighborhoods in central Buenos Aires, La Recoleta. It is one block from 9 de Julio Avenue, the city's main thoroughfare, and a two-minute walk to great shopping and dining on Santa Fe Avenue.
Residential La Recoleta is one of Buenos Aires' grand dames, with marble buildings and top-notch boutiques lining busy streets full of locals and tourists alike. Alvear Avenue is one of the main thoroughfares in the area, and has some of the most beautiful Parisian-style apartment buildings in the neighborhood, including a couple of magnificent palaces.
But it's not all about shopping here -- the neighborhood is home to major attractions like the National Library, a handful of art museums, and some interesting art galleries. However, there's little to no public transportation available in the area, requiring visitors to take cabs.
