Loi Suites Esmeralda is a 109-room apartment hotel near the sprawling, touristy Plaza San Martin and close to downtown Buenos Aires (Microcentro), as well as the districts of Recoleta and Puerto Madero. It’s the slightly cheaper twin hotel of Loi Suites Arenales, which is just a few streets north. Shopping thoroughfares, historical landmarks and museums aren’t too far, though some do require a car or taxi. Even with a kitchenette, the rooms still feel on the small side and the decor is dated and lacks personality. Some of the furnishings could use an overhaul, but the convenient location and affordable rates make this one a good choice for the value.

Loi Suites Esmeralda is located in the downtown neighborhood of Retiro, near the railway station and close to businesses and government agencies. Retiro is directly north of (and within walking distance of) Microcentro, the city's financial and cultural heart.
Retiro is the transportation hub of Buenos Aires. Often, "transportation hub" is synonymous with gritty, depressing, and traffic-filled, but this is not the case with Retiro (except the traffic-filled part). The neighborhood is home to upscale shops, luxury hotels, and the Plaza San Martin park, surrounded by beautiful historic mansions (many of which now serve as embassies).
