Bottom Line

This gorgeous, stately building resides in the city's financial and political center, just minutes away from Congress and presidential offices. What sets the Savoy apart from other hotels is its classic appearance combined with modern flair. The shiny marble lobby features high ceilings, accentuated by a bright red chandelier and plush red chairs. The stunning lobby bar showcases tall pillars with ornate gold details and crystal chandeliers. The hotel's rooms are contemporary, with wood floors, dramatic headboards, and bold pops of color (though some units, such as the Corner Suite, have classic decor). Each room offers clean, contemporary bathrooms with walk-in showers and rainfall fixtures. The Savoy welcomes all kinds of guests, but it's particularly popular with couples and business travelers (who can make use of the 10 meeting rooms on the property).

Oyster Hotel Review

Savoy Hotel

Location

Within walking distance to Congress and public transportation, and just south of bustling Microcentro

Savoy Hotel is in downtown Buenos Aires, near the center of Argentina's government. Not the most interesting, charming, or safe area, Congreso (as it is called) does have proximity to many of Buenos Aires' most popular tourist sites -- Microcento is just to the north.

Congreso is somewhat run-down and sketchy (especially at night), and isn't as popular with non-business visitors as the trendy Palermo or Retiro areas. An increased police presence in the area is starting to turn the area around, and more businesses and hotels are opening as a result, but there's still a long way to go.

  • 33-minute drive to Ministro Pistarini International Airport
  • 4-minute walk to Argentine National Congress
  • 6-minute walk to Congressional Plaza
  • 7-minute drive to Teatro Nacional Cervantes
  • 7-minute drive to Teatro Colon
  • 8-minute drive to Monumento del Libertador Jose de San Martin
  • 10-minute drive to Casa Rosada
  • 13-minute drive to Palermo and San Telmo
  • 15-minute drive to Puerto Madero
