Take a dip into our favorite pools in Buenos Aires:
The chic, luxurious 197-room Hotel Madero features sleek decor (unique pieces of artwork, sophisticated color schemes) and an overall young, laid-back ambiance. The heated indoor pool is a bit small, but its rooftop location and the outside terrace provide lovely views of the area. The Mine Hotel Boutique is an upscale 20-room hotel in the hip Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo Soho. Though set on a small piece of property, Mine uses its space phenomenally, and features a colorfully modern aesthetic. From the outside, the building has a futuristic vibe, and inside the lobby is a Zen-like open area -- its furnishings are distinct, colorful, and made from a number of natural materials. The pool is small, but is surrounded by lush foilage, making it a perfect spot to float the afternoon away. The centrally located Melia Buenos Aires hotel offers 209 generically decorated rooms. Flat-screen TVs and large bathrooms are the perks here, and suites are especially spacious with big work desks and cozy chairs. The extensive business center suggests that this hotel caters to business travelers, but there are many amenities for leisure travelers too, including a small spa, indoor pool, and fitness center. This mid-range business hotel stands out only for its ultra-convenient location on the northern side of downtown Buenos Aires. Adequate rooms are large and bright, but have dated decor and feel very bare bones. Business rooms are newer with a more contemporary -- although decidedly masculine -- decor and offer nice perks such as stylish glass-enclosed bathrooms and LG sound systems. The outdoor swimming pool is a plus, and great freebies -- a solid breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and parking -- add to the value. The 173-room Sofitel is a luxury option in the Retiro neighborhood, sitting on a tree-lined street within walking distance of several sights as well as the Retiro station. The stately lobby makes a striking first impression: It has a high glass ceiling, black-and-white tiling, and elegant chandeliers. Rooms are also stately, with attractive artwork, thick curtains, marble bathrooms featuring separate showers and tubs, and classic blue and gold decor. Located in the trendy neighborhood of Palermo Hollywood, the 27-room Fierro Hotel Boutique is a chic and upscale property that stands out for its luxe touches such as towel heaters and free loaner iPads. All rooms are spacious suites with modern furnishings, comfy beds, balconies, and high-tech amenities such as flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. Highlights include the rooftop terrace with heated, outdoor pool and renowned restaurant run by acclaimed chef Hernán Gipponi, who uses ingredients plucked from an organic garden on the property. The Axel is a cosmopolitan hotel located in San Telmo, a bohemian neighborhood in central Buenos Aires. It has 48 contemporary rooms with plush king beds, glass-enclosed bathrooms, and up-to-date amenities, such as flat-screen plasma TVs and iPod speakers. The rooftop pool with outdoor shower, the stunning spa, and the rooftop lounge are definitely the highlights of this hotel. The Galerías Hotel is a simple, yet contemporary 43-room boutique option from Spain's Husa Hotel group. Inside, guests will find a tranquil, stylish setting, with a cozy lobby as well as a cafe area serving meals and drinks (desserts are a standout). Spacious rooms come with large work desks (Wi-Fi is included), parquet floors, modern furniture and flat-screen TVs. Windows are double-paned glass to keep out the traffic noise below, and rooms facing front have better views than the rear. There is a small fitness center and sauna, as well as an attractive but small rooftop terrace and pool. Loi Suites Recoleta is a 112-room apartment-style hotel in the swanky Recoleta neighborhood, surrounded by art galleries, restaurants, and the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Of the three Loi Suites properties in the area, Recoleta is by far the most "luxurious" -- featuring a small but lovely pool in a glass-atrium garden setting, a modern fitness center, and a full-service spa. The hotel also has a number of different special events and meeting spaces, and on-site restaurant La Fuente serves international cuisine. The InterContinental is a beautiful upscale hotel that attracts numerous business travelers due to its business-friendly amenities and location near government buildings. Every detail of the hotel impresses, from the open marble lobby to the pristine spa to the spacious rooms. The hotel features a popular international restaurant and two bars, but the most noteworthy amenities are the gorgeous spa, chic indoor pool, and huge, modern fitness center; unfortunately, accessing those facilities requires an additional fee. The 83-room Aspen Square reflects the creative, bohemian flair of the surrounding Palermo Soho neighborhood, an area known for its artists, restaurants, clubs, and vibrant street culture. Built in early 2011, the hotel is the newest addition to the Aspen Towers and Aspen Suites family. All studios and one- and two-bedroom suites feature decor that is hip and minimalist, and utilizes sleek color schemes of white, muted gray/brown and deep red/purple. They also all come with balconies and whirlpool tubs. A wraparound terrace provides guests with comfy, stylish couches, an outdoor pool, and great views of the nearby streets. The Eurobuilding Hotel Boutique is a 58-room hotel on the Avenue 9 de Julio. Communal areas have a clean, contemporary feel and stylish rooms feature light carpeting, dark wood furnishings, and burgundy accents. Stand-out amenities include adjustable beds, spacious work desks, flat-screen TVs, and separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers. This hotel offers great perks such as a free daily breakfast buffet of hot and cold items, free W-Fi, and an appealing rooftop pool and terrace with great city views. The 160-room Hotel Cristoforo Colombo is hard to miss -- the facade is adorned with an enormous silver sign and fading flags that mark the entrance to this older high-rise property. Amenities include a funky circular pool, small play area, and tiny spa. The fitness center looks bright and modern, but much of the rest of the property is starting to show its age. Guest rooms look especially tired, with outdated furnishings and tube TVs. Free Wi-Fi and daily breakfast are nice perks, but the big draw is the hotel's great location close to parks and restaurants in Palermo. A tranquil, minimalist vibe pervades this upper-middle-range property in peaceful Palermo. Its 60 large, bright rooms feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, fully equipped kitchenettes, and contemporary decor with dark wood accents and black-and-white photos on the walls. The spa is comprised of a gorgeous indoor pool area, sauna, and small massage room, adjacent to a tiny fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment. It’s a great pick for those who prefer a quiet location close to shopping, dining and nightlife, but visitors who want to be within walking distance to major tourist attractions might prefer a more central location. The Be Hollywood is a hip, modern boutique hotel located in the lively Palermo Hollywood neighborhood. The hotel features 37 large, white rooms with pops of color via the pillows and rugs. Even the standard rooms are spacious (the largest loft rooms are located in a building across the street), but the bathrooms are small with tiny showers. The highlight is the terrace where the pool and fabulous views of the city can be found, and the free breakfast and Wi-Fi add value.
