H10 Timanfaya Palace

Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

The 305-room H10 Timanfaya Palace is an upscale, adults-only hotel catering to couples seeking some peace and quiet. Its two large oceanfront pools have a serene atmosphere, and while there is a daily entertainment program, activities are generally mellower than at other resorts in the area. This all-inclusive stands out for its excellent cuisine, which includes a wonderful main buffet, a Mediterranean a la carte restaurant with Arab influences, and a poolside snack bar serving tapas and a small buffet. The fitness centerfeatures a good array of cardio and strength-training machines, a sauna, and two massage rooms, but there is no full spa on-site. The indoor pool is a great perk for a rainy day. Rooms are spacious, clean, and stylish, and feature LCD TVs, mini-fridges (stocked in Superior and Privilege Rooms, as well as Suites), and balconies, some with sea views. There is an ongoing renovation plan, but for the time being most bathrooms are a little dated.

2

Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real

Corralejo, La Oliva, Fuerteventura

The impressive 242-room Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real is one of the few upscale hotels near Corralejo, with classically styled rooms, five swimming pools, and a great pier lounge with awesome sea views. Guest rooms surround a courtyard with swimming pools and tropical gardens, and the beachfront location means this hotel is ideal for a tranquil holiday. Guests include a mix of families -- drawn by kids' entertainment -- and mature travelers. Food is served on an all-inclusive or half-board basis, and there are six restaurants and three bars. A top-class spa has a large indoor pool, outdoor plunge pool, sauna, and treatment rooms.

3

Seaside Palm Beach

Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

Seaside Palm Beach is an upsacle property with well-tended, palm-tree-lined gardens that's a three-minute walk from Maspalomas Beach. The 328 bright, retro-style rooms are elegant and come with free Wi-Fi -- the priciest rooms have coffeemakers, but all lack safes, and some bathrooms are rather small. The exceptional buffet breakfast is included in room rates and three restaurants (with dress codes) serve delicious local and international meals, including barbecues and buffets (all-inclusive is available). Extensive facilities feature numerous pools, tennis courts, gym, and spa, plus perks like free parking and discounts at nearby golf courses.

4

HD Parque Cristobal Tenerife

Playa de las Americas, Arona, Tenerife

HD Parque Cristobal Tenerife is a family-oriented compound ideally located in the middle of Playa de las Americas, one row back from the beach. Every room at Parque Cristobal occupies a tidy, single-story bungalow with a whitewashed exterior and a grassy front yard. All units feature sage-colored wood furniture, ceiling fans (some rooms have AC, as well), flat-screen TVs with 80-plus channels, and well-stocked kitchenettes. There are four pools, a pool bar, a tapas bar, and a buffet restaurant serving all meals. HD Parque's kids' club, underground disco, and animation team are evidence of its upbeat nature, but the vibe around the outlying bungalows is peaceful. All this, and the extremely family-friendly property is a three-minute walk from the beach.

5

Barcelo Teguise Beach – Adults only

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

The upscale Barcelo Teguise Beach is one of Lanzarote’s most stylish adults-only properties. Its 305 rooms are contemporary and well-equipped, with quality beds, espresso machines, and free Wi-Fi. Most units offer views of the sea, and many have a hot tub, either indoors or on the balcony. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, in particular around the pools, one of which is heated year-round and offers panoramic views of the ocean. Food gets great reviews for quality and variety, though some past guests have complained that it is usually lukewarm, and the cocktail bar is popular among guests and non-guests alike.

6

Seaside Los Jameos Playa

Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote

Located across the street from a long, sandy beach, the 530-room Seaside Los Jameos Playa is an upper-middle-range resort catering to families and couples wanting a bustling vacation. The full entertainment program offers activities for all ages, including fitness classes for adults, crafts and games for kids, and family-friendly evening shows, while the pools are big and pleasant, with lots of palm trees and shaded areas. Loungers, however, tend to get reserved early in the morning. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but some may find the traditional decor dated, consisting of basic wicker furniture, thin bedspreads, and generic artwork on walls. Food gets particularly great reviews.

7

Hipotels La Geria

Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote

The 242-room Hipotels La Geria is an upper-middle-range, all-inclusive property located across the street from sandy Pocillos Beach. Sunny, clean rooms feature generic decor and amenities including flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and seasonal central air-conditioning. The large free-form pool is lined with palm trees and loungers and features a kiddy section as well as access to a bar with outdoor seating. Additionally, the hotel offers two tennis courts, a small fitness center, a solid buffet restaurant, and a kids’ club.

8

Roca Nivaria GH – Adrian Hoteles

Playa Paraiso, Adeje, Tenerife

Roca Nivaria is a huge four-pearl resort located in a quiet area of Tenerife, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The 289 elegant rooms and suites have large bathrooms with separate showers and tubs, plus balconies with lounge chairs, but fees for kettles and minibars are notable downsides, especially for a hotel of this caliber. Features include a fantastic buffet restaurant and two a la carte dinner options that are included with meal plans, as well as a lovely spa with a fitness center, two pools (including a heated saltwater infinity pool), a small beach, and tons for kids, including kids' clubs catering to children as young as 10 months.

9

LABRANDA Corralejo Village

Corralejo, La Oliva, Fuerteventura

Fresh off a full-on revamp in 2016, the four-pearl, all-inclusive Labranda Corralejo Village delivers a rare combo: boutique stylishness plus big-resort features -- including plenty of facilities oriented toward families. Its 110 fashionable rooms are head and shoulders above other resorts in terms of their stylish, on-trend decor, and they’re also well outfitted with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning. Features are extensive and include two pools, a kids’ club and a teens’ club, a full restaurant, gym, and spa. It's also well situated, with both the beach and the heart of town in walking distance.

10

Gran Oasis Resort

Playa de las Americas, Arona, Tenerife

The 210-room upper-middle-range Gran Oasis Resort is located on the far edge of Golf Las Americas, about a 10-minute drive from the beach. The upscale and beachy apartments were all renovated in 2014 and 2015, and include full kitchens, living rooms, two flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and balconies or verandas (those with golf-course views have both). The hotel has three heated pools, three dining options, a huge game room, and a grocery store, plus it offers free shuttles to Siam Park and the beach.

11

LABRANDA Alyssa Suite Hotel

Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Fresh from 2016 refurbishments, the Labranda Alyssa Suite Hotel is an upper-middle-range property in Playa Blanca's outskirts. Given its remote location, all-inclusive packages here are a pro, and good features include three pools (one for kids), tennis and games areas, and a buffet restaurant. Self-contained bungalows form the 120 Suites, which are smartly outfitted with nautical themes, flat-screen TVs, and AC. Views are charming from both private patios and the restaurant's shaded dining terraces. Peace and quiet here is guaranteed, although high-speed Wi-Fi, less-so.

12

Hotel Elba Sara

Caleta de Fuste, Antigua, Fuerteventura

The three-pearl Hotel Elba Sara does the holiday staples well: an attractive pool area, large buffet restaurant, plenty for kids, and fun entertainment. Its 266 spotless rooms all have sea views, outdoor space, and amenities like air-conditioning and TVs -- but the traditional decor is dated. The beachfront setting and optional all-inclusive packages appeal to young families and more mature guests, lots of whom revisit year after year despite the nearby beach being rocky and lacking seating. There are also courtesy buses to two golf courses, plus lots of on-site dining options. For a large hotel near Caleta de Fuste, prices are excellent.

13

Iberostar Bouganville Playa

Costa Adeje, Adeje, Tenerife

This Iberostar is a large, upper-middle-range family-friendly beachfront resort located near bars, restaurants and shops, and adjacent to a small sandy beach. With two large pools; entertainment both for kids and adults; a well-equipped fitness center; two restaurants; and several meal plans, the hotel appeals to a broad range of travelers. Renovated rooms look fresh and contemporary, with all-white decor and a few bright accents.

14

Green Garden Resort & Suites

Playa de las Americas, Arona, Tenerife

The upper-middle-range, family-friendly Green Garden Resort and Suites is an all-inclusive optional property packed with charm and character. Its 121 apartments are attractive and spacious, all equipped with fully equipped kitchens, private balconies or terraces, and flat-screen TVs. The resort's two restaurants -- one buffet and one a la carte -- are a cut above the norm, and there's a well-stocked market on-site for self-catering guests. Extensive features for both adults and kids include three pools, a playground, daily entertainment, a small gym, and a Thai-style spa. The property is surrounded by the Las Americas golf course, but it's a 30-minute walk from the beach, restaurants, and shops -- the hotel does offer a free shuttle.

15

HD Beach Resort & Spa

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

HD Beach Resort is an all-inclusive hotel directly on Las Cucharas Beach, a short walk from area shops and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean and come with terraces or balconies with mountain or sea views. In-room amenities include microwaves, refrigerators, and seating areas with sofas, and dining options include a buffet restaurant, an Italian restaurant, and a poolside snack bar. There are two freshwater pools, both of which are heated in the winter months; one is designed for quiet relaxation while the other is geared towards more activity. This hotel is a good choice for couples and families looking to be right on the beach at an all-inclusive hotel.
