The 154-room Ocean Spa Hotel is an all-inclusive option in the Hotel Zone. The hotel sits on a white-sand beach in a bay-like area by the marina, providing calm water that's not as crystal clear as in other areas of Cancun. The hotel features a nice pool with a swim-up bar, a fitness center, and an updated, clean spa, but the food is mediocre and though rooms are large, they're super bland (the only color in the room comes from the coral duvet cover). Spa Deluxe rooms are nicer, with fresher decor and more modern bathrooms. All rooms feature partial ocean views from private balconies or terraces. Some may consider the nearby (similarly priced) Bel Air Collection Resort & Spa instead, which features generally nicer rooms, better restaurants, and a higher quality beach.

The Ocean Spa Hotel is in the northernmost, westernmost part of the Hotel Zone in Cancun, a short drive from Downtown Cancun. The Zona Hotelera (or Hotel Zone) is the megaresort, mega-mall area in Isla Cancun that caters to mass tourism. Nightlife is one of its main draws, as are brand-name shops and restaurants -- but there's little of Cancun's original flavor here. To get a hint of what that is, take a cab to Ciudad Cancun, the real downtown, where smaller, better restaurants, local shops, and quieter bars are located.
