The Red Inn Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Ask anyone from Boston and they'll probably tell you that Cape Cod is a little slice of heaven right here on earth. As one of the nation's most storied summer beach vacation spots, there is no shortage of activity for all walks of life. From the cultural offerings and lively nightlife of Provincetown to the sleepy New England charm of Chatham and everywhere in between, it's not hard to see why the crowds — and the couples — keep returning. Check out our favorite spots for romancing here: The historic, luxurious Red Inn is a local hot spot, thanks to its extremely popular restaurant. But it's still plenty relaxing, with beautiful water views from the restaurant and all eight of the attractive, beach-chic rooms. The small size and cool factor mean that it sells out fast -- so book early.

The historic, luxurious Red Inn is a local hot spot, thanks to its extremely popular restaurant. But it's still plenty relaxing, with beautiful water views from the restaurant and all eight of the attractive, beach-chic rooms. The small size and cool factor mean that it sells out fast -- so book early. The eight guest rooms at The Red Inn vary in size and features, but they all have gorgeous views of the water (in fact, it feels like you're hanging over the harbor), as well as access to either the shared portion of the amazing sundeck or private access. For the most part, this upscale inn and spa is charming and attractive. Those not on a budget would do well to book the more spacious higher-level rooms, which also come with added extras such as fireplaces, decks, and whirlpool tubs. The main amenity at the Crowne Pointe Historic Inn and Spa is, however, the Shui Spa. Guests can access its facilities -- the mineral soaking tub, steam room, and sauna -- for free. After a much-needed renovation in 2010, the Platinum Pebble Boutique Inn went from “grandmother’s house” to “New York City chic.” Innkeepers Annabelle and Simon provide a modern, luxury inn experience in the setting of a historic Cape Cod home. Its rooms are among the most stylish on the island, but rates tend to be more affordable here than at luxury competitors, since it's not located right on the water (though the beach is within walking distance). There are some great perks at the Platinum Pebble, too, including the daily in-room breakfast, afternoon tea, free parking at the Earle Beach, and an outdoor pool. Nestled near the heart of Chatham on 25 scenic acres overlooking Pleasant Bay, Chatham Bars Inn has been a local staple since 1914. The true Cape-Cod style architecture is complemented by lovely interiors to match -- upholstered wingback chairs, antique-style turned-leg furnishings, and seafaring decor. But don't let the term "inn" fool you, this property is big and amenities-packed, with a beautiful spa, modern fitness center, scenic beach, fine dining, private chartered boats, and classic clay tennis courts. Thanks to the large pools (including a kiddy pool) and an extensive kids' club, the Inn is a popular choice for families -- but guests looking for relaxation away from the bustling kid-friendly areas can book a room in the adults-only Spa Suites. These feature in-room fireplaces, Jacuzzis, and lovely window seats. Carpe Diem Guesthouse & Spa is a relaxing escape from the party scene of Provincetown -- but still close by for guests who feel like getting out and joining the fun. The rooms are all named for writers and decorated differently -- all are stylish and charming. Perks such as a delicious free German breakfast, free wine and cheese hour, and the full-service Namaste Spa are also draws at Carpe Diem. This historic inn provides a gourmet country breakfast, afternoon tea, evening snacks, sweet treats, and port or sherry in the library. Another outstanding feature is the heated outdoor pool with plush lounge chairs -- especially convenient since this inn is not located on the waterfront. The inn's 16 elegant rooms are decorated in an English country style. They come with modern features including flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, along with luxurious touches such as fireplaces and soaking tubs.
