Next to a well-known golf course, with a modern, eclectic interior
Vivamarinha Hotel & Suites sits next door to the Quinta da Marinha golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.. The course has views of the Atlantic Ocean while the hotel itself has a spacious lobby with tall, windowed walls and an eclectic mix of couches and chairs. A large vessel of twisting branches serves as a unique centerpiece.
Families can play in the huge outdoor pool surrounded by pine trees and a grassy landscape, but when it comes to the indoor spa, children under the age of 14 aren’t allowed in the hydrotherapy pool. With numerous amenities -- including several meeting rooms -- the hotel attracts leisure and business travelers, as well as families.
A significant drive to Lisbon, but relatively easy access to the town center
Vivamarinha’s location in the middle of Quinta da Marinha puts it close to a variety of nearby activities, including golf, tennis, and horseback riding. Guincho Beach is a short distance away by car, while getting to Lisbon requires a half-hour drive. A significantly shorter drive will take visitors to Cascais’ town center, where there are a variety of shops, restaurants, and bars.
Modern interiors with sleek bathrooms and kitchenettes
Each with either a balcony or terrace, rooms here are modern and airy with tasteful decor that includes black vases in recessed wall spaces and brown leather headboards. The rooms also come with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and Nespresso Coffee Machines. Bathrooms are sleek and stylish.
Deluxe rooms come with small kitchenettes, and the family suites have larger kitchens with an array of appliances.
The heated outdoor pool is a highlight.
The Vivamarinha has a heated outdoor pool with an adjacent snack bar serving salads, burgers, and ice cream. The spa features an indoor hydrotherapy pool, and offers services such as massages and mani/pedis. The fitness center is small, but includes several cardio machines and mostly business travelers make use of this feature, as well as the numerous meeting rooms.
The Glass Terrace restaurant, surrounded by windowed walls and ceilings, features indoor and outdoor seating and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (Keep in mind that there can be a wait for a table.) There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
Unlike other luxury hotels in the Cascais area, the 143-room Vivamarinha Hotel & Suites is a ways from the ocean -- but within easy reach of several golf courses. The hotel does feature a large outdoor pool, however, as well as a fitness center and a spa with a hydrotherapy pool. The tasty on-site restaurant has a terrace and glass ceiling, but it's a popular spot so there can be a wait for a table. The nearby Hotel Cascais Miragem often has higher rates, but it has a slightly more upscale feel and is closer to the beach.
