Across the street from Marion Square, the upper-middle-range Embassy Suites Charleston is housed in the original Citadel Military College that looks like an aged fortress. The lobby, with an oddly placed array of plants, oriental rugs, and chairs, isn't as inviting as some other Charleston hotels, but the Historic Downtown location and the large suites -- complete with separate living rooms, wet bars, mini-fridges, and microwaves -- are the highlight.

Embassy Suites Charleston is located in Historic Downtown Charleston. This charming neighborhood looks just how it does in the movies, with colorful, porch-fronted homes, cobblestone streets, and beautiful gardens. Many of the homes date back to the early 1800s and the area maintains its old town feel with the city's height restriction ordinance.
The hotel sits across the street from Marion Square, a six-acre park, and is also within walking distance of many tourist attractions and the College of Charleston.
