The Embassy Suites in Charlotte is a large hotel less than five minutes from the airport. The decor is typical of a chain hotel -- the 274 suites, all of which have separate (and blandly decorated) living areas, wet bars, mini-fridges, and microwaves, are centered around a kitschy atrium with a small waterfall and plastic-looking plants. Families may enjoy the indoor pool, the free breakfast, and the laundry facilities, but this hotel is geared toward business travelers who will be staying in Charlotte for a short trip. Those who want to be close to the action and the city's many attractions may consider staying in Uptown Charlotte.
In Yorkmount, a short drive from the airport and Uptown Charlotte
Southwest of Uptown Charlotte, Yorkmount is a small area near the airport with few sites or museums. There is a nice park and a somewhat-seedy shopping center, but most visitors to Yorkmount stay in the area due to its proximity to the airport, Uptown Charlotte, and Pinecrest, home to numerous well-known golf courses like the Arnold Palmer-designed Carolina course.
