In Lakeview, just a few blocks from Wrigley Field
The hotel is located near Wrigley Field in the heart of Northern Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, known for its vibrant LGBT community, shopping, dining, and tree-lined residential streets.
Contemporary decor, microwaves and mini-fridges
The Best Western's rooms were completely renovated in 2010, and feature contemporary decor, microwaves, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs. Some suites feature pull-out sofas while others have kitchens with refrigerators, dishwashers, and stove-tops.
Solid freebies and a fitness center, but not much else
The 83-room Best Western Hawthorne Terrace is one of the few hotels in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, a northern residential area that's home to Wrigley Field and Chicago's gay nightlife scene. It's got more charm than you'd expect from a chain hotel -- a brick building covered with ivy, a Victorian-style lobby with a fireplace, contemporary rooms renovated in 2010 -- as well as solid freebies, including Wi-Fi, continental breakfasts and morning newspaper delivery. But it's far from the tourist sights, and lacks a full restaurant, room service, and a business center.
