Bottom Line

Housed in a refurbished brick building in a trendy neighborhood, the four-pearl Canvas Hotel Dallas is the epitome of industrial chic. Rooms are large and loft-like, with excellent amenities like capsule coffeemakers among the exposed brick and pipes. The rooftop SODA bar and pool have impressive views of the city and is a popular spot for locals. As such, it can get noisy, especially on the weekends. It’s close to downtown, with a shuttle that will drop guests off anywhere within three miles of the hotel. Travelers looking for an equally chic property with less of a party atmosphere should try The Hotel Lumen, which -- unlike the Canvas Hotel Dallas -- also has a gym.

Canvas Hotel Dallas

Scene

Fun, industrial-chic style with swanky accents

The hotel has a funky, industrial-chic style with a raw feel. The lobby and common spaces have exposed brick and pipes and concrete floors along with  fun, modern decor. The lobby is filled with plush purple Chesterfield sofas and armchairs upholstered in dark velvet, while a crystal chandelier towers over a round velvet banquette, right by a piano covered in colorful graffiti. The adjoining Terrace Bistro continues the style of the lobby with a slight Victorian steampunk vibe. The rooftop SODA bar has a similar industrial look, and the adjacent infinity pool, while small, provides a stunning view of the Dallas skyline. Most of the guests are couples and groups of friends.

Amenities include flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, and hairdryers. Wi-Fi is free. Bathrooms have cylindrical vessel sinks and open showers. Early birds and light sleepers beware: music and noise from the rooftop bar can be heard on the upper floors and the walls are on the thin side.
