A small residential neighborhood (the oldest in Denver), Uptown is a relatively quiet area -- though a recent wave of young people moving into the neighborhood has livened things up a bit. Few tourist attractions are in Uptown, but it is home to 17th Avenue, lined with upscale restaurants. Colfax Avenue, the southern border of Uptown, is home to live music venues, like Fillmore Auditorium, and the northern side is bordered by Benedict Fountain Park. Some beautiful, old Victorian-style homes in the area have been converted into B&Bs.
Staying near Colfax puts you right by the music venues while being on 17th allows you super easy access to the area's best restaurants. Uptown is small, but near many tourist attractions -- staying on the eastern edge puts you near the Denver Zoo and City Park, while the northeast side is close to the museums, restaurants, and shops of LoDo.
