Bottom Line

When it comes to B&Bs with a homey feel and a personal touch, Beech Lodge is hard to beat. The owners really give guests a warm welcome and make a point of helping out with any aspect of their stay. Rooms are clean, fresh, and comfortable, though you'll hear some traffic noise in those at the front of the house. Breakfast is a particular highlight -- it's freshly cooked with lots of choice. Rates are very reasonable, and if you don't mind being a few miles from city center, this is a great choice.

Beech Lodge B&B

Scene

Unassuming red brick B&B with warm welcome and personal touch

If it weren't for the hanging sign on the street out front, you'd be hard pressed to tell the Beech Lodge was a B&B at all -- the red brick property is modern, detached, and completely unassuming. Stepping inside, too, feels like you're entering someone's home; only a display stuffed with tourism pamphlets gives the game away. New arrivals are met with fresh tea and coffee and home-baked scones, and a warm welcome from the owners who also offer advice and information relevant to your stay. Real emphasis is placed on creating a warm and friendly atmosphere with personal service and home-away-from-home vibe.

Location

Situated in residential suburb three miles from Dublin center

The Beech Lodge B&B is located in a very residential Dublin suburb, about three miles northwest of the city center. Situated on Navan Road, one of the main arteries into Dublin city, means it's a pretty easy 12-minute drive in, while Dublin Airport is around 15 minutes by car. Bus service from here into the city center is reliable and efficient. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, including the longest pub in Ireland.

Rooms

Fresh, bright, and homey rooms with flat-screen TVs

Rooms feel more guest room than hotel room with fresh, bright decor and simple, homey furnishings. In-room amenities, however, do include large flat-screen TVs with cable channels and tea and coffee facilities. Bathrooms are clean and modern and come with heated towel rails and toiletries. There is some traffic noise from the road, though it doesn't affect rear-facing rooms. A couple rooms are also on the small side, but style and quality of linens and towels are excellent for this price point.
