North of the River Liffey, close to museums, shopping, and theaters
The Castle Hotel is located north of the River Liffey, in an area of Dublin centered around the city's main thoroughfare, O'Connell Street. O'Connell Street is lined by historic buildings and monuments, as many important moments in Irish history took place in the area. There are several restaurants, hotels, and shops near the hotel. The neighborhood is also home to the Abbey Theatre and the Gate Theatre. Literature fans take note: The Dublin Writers Museum and the James Joyce Center are both just a block away.
The Castle Hotel is basically on Parnell Square, where the Rotunda Hospital is located. The square is also home to The Garden of Remembrance, the Hugh Lane Gallery, and the Dublin Writers Museum.
The 28-room Castle Hotel is a mid-range option in an old Georgian building that offers great value for price. The rooms are basic but updated with attractive decor, comfortable beds, and flat-screen TVs. Room perks include floor to ceiling windows, an electric kettle, safe, and a pleasant color scheme. Superior rooms are even nicer with more attention to the finishes. Common areas, including the residence lounges, are inviting with antique touches such as chandeliers and working fireplaces. With an on-site restaurant and bar, traditional and charming decor, and free breakfast, this hotel on the north side of the River Liffey offers great value.
