Oyster Review Summary

Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • Centrally located in the historic, cultural quarter of Temple Bar
  • All-white, sexy rooms with flat-screen TVs and modern bathrooms
  • Penthouse Suite has a massive balcony with city views (popular party venue)
  • Cool ground floor cocktail bar serves light tapas and drinks
  • Free Wi-Fi in common areas
  • Walking distance to nightlife and popular sights
  • The hotel provides free passes to a gym nearby

Cons

  • No fitness center or spa (though the hotel does provide free passes to a gym nearby)
  • Some complaints about noise at night
  • Lack of privacy due to frosted glass bathroom doors
  • Fee for in-room Wi-Fi

Bottom Line

The Morgan is a boutique hotel located in Temple Bar, the "cultural quarter" and nightlife center in Dublin. The all-white rooms have comfortable beds and crisp linens, and are complete with modern bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles. To some, the pops of color and animal prints will feel chic, while others may not find the style to their taste. The Penthouse Suite has a large balcony and is often rented out for events. There is no gym (though the hotel does provide free passes to facilities down the street) or spa and in-room Wi-Fi comes at an additional fee, but the hotel is home to a popular neighborhood bar serving a small tapas menu and cocktails. Families might want to look beyond this hip spot as some guests complain about noise on the weekends and bathroom doors are simply frosted glass, not providing much privacy.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

On Fleet Street in the historic, cultural quarter of Temple Bar

The Morgan is located in historic Temple Bar, the "cultural quarter" of Dublin, on the south bank of the River Liffey. Unlike other historic areas in the city, Temple Bar has maintained its historic character. The streets are cobblestone and are lined by historic buildings, now home to galleries, shops, and bars.

During the day, tourists of all ages shop at the outdoor markets and vintage shops. But at night, the scene gets a bit rowdier, with young tourists filing in and out of the area's bars. The hotel is within walking distance of numerous bars and restaurants, as well as sights such as the Dublin Castle and Trinity College.

  • 20-minute drive to the Dublin International Airport
  • 2-minute walk to Ha'Penny Bridge
  • 4-minute walk to the Irish Film Institute
  • 5-minute walk to Grafton Street, the main shopping street
  • 7-minute walk to Trinity College
  • 10-minute walk to Dublinia
  • 10-minute walk to Ardgillan Castle
  • 10-minute walk to Christ Church Cathedral
  • 14-minute walk to Dublin Castle
  • 14-minute walk to IFSC, the business district
  • 15-minute walk to Dublin Writers Museum
  • 15-minute walk to the Guinness Storehouse
  • 16-minute walk to St. Patrick's Cathedral
  • 8-minute drive to the Dublin Zoo
  • 8-minute drive to the Irish Museum of Modern Art
