Bottom Line

Days Hotel Flagstaff offers an attractive list of features for a budget hotel, including a nice heated indoor pool complex with a whirlpool and saunas. The attached restaurant gets high marks for its food and sports bar, and it even offers room service. The 100 guest rooms are clean and spacious and were upgraded in 2015 with comfortable, pillow-top mattresses. Each room has a coffeemaker, mini-fridge, and microwave. But, there’s no escaping that this motor court-style hotel is housed in an older building that shows its age in places including the dark bathrooms. Rates and the convenient location are attractive to both budget-conscious tourists and business travelers. But travelers could also consider La Quinta Inn & Suites Flagstaff, a value property with bright rooms and a lovely outdoor pool.

Days Hotel by Wyndham Flagstaff

Scene

Motor court-style hotel with a rustic lobby and stone fireplaces

Days Hotel Flagstaff is a motor court-style hotel housed in an older building painted green and beige with brown trim. The small lobby is cozy and decorated in Southwestern rust and gold earth tones. There are potted tropical plants and a stone fireplace with a dark marble hearth that matches the front desk. A dark wood-paneled wall above the fireplace rises to the second floor. A sitting area includes red upholstered sofas in front of another stone fireplace with a mounted elk’s head above it. The grotto-style heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and saunas are popular especially in winter months when skiers stay at the hotel and want to soak after days on the slopes. The attached restaurant gets high marks from guests for its food and the ambiance in its sports bar-style lounge where several TVs await. It’s popular with guests and locals alike. In warmer months, many guests can be seen sitting outside on their patios or balconies enjoying the fresh, high-desert air.

Rooms

Spacious and clean with mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi

Days Hotel Flagstaff is an older property, but it revamped its rooms in 2015. The result is simple, pleasant, and unsurprising decor. Gold and red are the dominant colors visible in the light gold walls and red carpet and drapes with gold accents. All rooms are furnished in dark wood headboards, tables or desks, and dressers that holds 32-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Dark, exposed wood beams across the ceilings lend a rustic touch. Each room includes a gold upholstered armchair and matching ottoman or two gold upholstered dining chairs. Beds are outfitted with new pillow-top mattresses that were added in 2015.

The bathrooms are where the rooms reveal their age the most with brown or beige tile floors and brown granite vanities. The standard white shower/tub combos are framed by light blue or beige tile. Rooms come in standard king or double-queen options, and larger Business Class suites are available with 37-inch flat-screen TVs. Every room includes a coffeemaker (with tea), electronic safe, free Wi-Fi, and either a small patio or balcony with two chairs. Several past guests have reported that noise can be heard from other guests through the rather thin walls. And while rooms are generally clean and well maintained, a few past guests reported minor housekeeping issues. Views are primarily of the parking lot or busy street, but mountains can be seen from some rooms.

Features

Heated indoor pool and whirlpool, saunas, restaurant/lounge, and laundry facilities

For a budget property, Days Hotel Flagstaff offers a generous list of amenities. The heated indoor pool complex is the hotel's star feature with landscaping and rock features. It has high ceilings, a glass wall, and an adjacent whirlpool. Gender divided saunas are available, too. There's a small exercise room with only a few cardio machines, though it's bright and clean.

The on-site restaurant, Northern Pines, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and includes a sports bar with 15 beers on tap. Breakfast is not included in room rates, but there is limited room service and a children's menu is available. Free coffee and tea are available in the lobby throughout the day as well, and vending machines are on the second floor.

A small business center includes one computer station with Internet access, a fax machine, printer, and copier. An ATM and free daily newspapers are available in the lobby, and free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property. Coin laundry facilities are on-site, and valet dry cleaning services are available. The hotel’s surface lot provides free parking. Pets are welcome in select rooms with a small surcharge.
