Bottom Line

The Best Western Hotel Rivoli offers a bit more charm than a standard chain, thanks to its setting in a former convent built more than 500 years ago. Architectural details such as wood-beamed ceilings and sandstone columns create old-world charm, while the artwork on display adds an elegant touch. The 80 rooms look dated, however, with floral print furnishings and pastel walls. The hotel features pretty courtyards and a Jacuzzi, which are popular spots for guests to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Many of Florence's famous landmarks are within a 15-minute walk of the hotel.

In central Florence -- walking distance from most sights

Map of Best Western Hotel Rivoli

This Best Western is within walking distance of almost all of the most famous landmarks in Florence -- the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Uffizi Gallery. It is also less than a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station.

Florence is extremely pedestrian-friendly, and is one of Italy's most beautiful cities -- it's more compact, and less gritty, than Rome. The Duomo is the most iconic sight here, but other popular attractions include Michelangelo's "David" at the Galleria dell'Accademia, the works of Botticelli and da Vinci at the Uffizi, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge, which dates back to the 1300s. The Piazza della Signora is a popular tourist hub, and many hotels are located near it.

  • 4-minute walk to Santa Maria Novella -- a 14th-century monastic church with archetypical Gothic architecture
  • 7-minute walk to the nearest train station
  • 10-minute walk to Oltrarno -- the southern and more working class part of the city, with great family-run restaurants

  • 12-minute walk to Palazzo Vecchio, Florence's town hall
  • 14-minute walk to the Uffizi Gallery which houses Botticelli's "Birth of Venus"
