Hotel Pendini

Occupying the third and fourth floors of a beautiful, historic building that dates back to 1879, the hotel features charming interiors with Old World details that evoke another time. Guests are greeted by a big portrait of Mrs. Pending, the hotel's founder, on display behind the front desk.The walls of the main hallway are decorated with the original "Pensione Pendini" sign, as well as several old pictures of the Piazza della Repubblica depicting the square during various historical events like wars and floods. The lobby resembles an aristocratic living room, with a collection of painted portraits on the walls and a view of the busy street below. A modern elevator, flanked by deep red velvet sofas, leads to guest rooms. The breakfast room features a crystal chandelier, green velvet booths, and tables topped with long white tablecloths and fresh clusters of flowers.

The Hotel Pendini is located in the heart of the action in central Florence, right in front of the lively and elegant Piazza della Repubblica and its many historic cafes and shops. The hotel is on the third and fourth floors of an old building, which also houses private homes, offices, and a barber shop. Around the corner is via Tornabuoni, a prestigious street lined with designer boutiques and posh shops like Prada and Gucci. The Duomo is a three-minute walk away, and other attractions like the Uffizi Gallery, the Galleria dell'Accademia, and the Ponte Vecchio are all about ten minutes away on foot. Santa Maria Novella train station is a 10-minute walk and Florence Peretola Airport is 35 minutes away by bus or 18 minutes by car or taxi.

Rooms at the Hotel Pendini include singles, doubles, triples, and a couple of family rooms that can sleep up to six people. Like the rest of the hotel, rooms are adorned with antique furniture including beautiful wooden dressers, nightstands, coffee tables, brass bed frames, and petite chandeliers, as well as charming floral wallpaper. All rooms possess modern amenities such as small flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi access, and modern bathrooms with walk-in rainfall showers, heated towel racks, bidets, and hairdryers. Rooms that overlook the Piazza offer wonderful views, but are subject to street noise.

Hotel Pendini offers a free breakfast buffet that includes coffee, fresh pastries, yogurt, eggs, meats, and cheeses, but there's no full restaurant on the premises. Hotel staff is helpful with luggage storage, laundry services, tours, and recommendations. Valet parking is available (subject to daily fee) at a nearby garage. Wi-Fi is free throughout, though spotty at times.
