Oyster Review Summary

Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • All rooms have separate living areas
  • Wet bars and large flat-screen TVs
  • Free Wi-Fi through the hotel
  • 24-hour lobby cafe with Starbucks coffee, pre-made sandwiches, and pastries
  • Free shuttle to the nearby airport
  • Free breakfast and free parking

Cons

  • Not on the beach (5-minute drive)
  • Gym is small, with no weightlifing equipment
  • Extra charge at breakfast for hot items like eggs and bacon

Bottom Line

As at other Hyatt Places, the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale's lobby is best described as "Starbucks chic," with warm colors and a prominent 24-hour cafe. Rooms are large and contemporary (if not quite stylish) and all have separate living areas and flat-screen TVs. The location is convenient for business travelers making a quick trip and people going on cruises leaving from Fort Everglades, and freebies (breakfast, Wi-Fi, self-parking) add value -- but it's not on the beach, unlike most Fort Lauderdale hotels.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

By a shopping center and Port Everglades

Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale is right by a shopping center and Port Everglades, a cruise terminal.

Unlike many Fort Lauderdale hotels, this hotel is not located on the beach (it's a 5-minute drive away). It's a short drive from the airport as well, and Port Everglades, a cruise terminal from which numerous cruise ships leave daily.

  • 9-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale International Airport
  • 3-minute drive to Port Everglades
  • 5-minute drive to the beach
  • 6-minute drive to downtown Fort Lauderdale
  • 7-minute drive to Las Olas Boulevard, a strip of restaurants, bars, and clubs
  • 35-minute drive to Miami
  • 35-minute drive to Miami International Airport
  • 1-hour drive to Palm Beach
