Best Boutique Hotels in Gran Canaria

Millions of visitors descend upon Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands every year to experience its perfect climate and beaches. Appropriately, there is a seemingly unending parade of purpose-built mega-resorts, but for travelers seeking slightly quirkier, cozier accommodations, here is Oyster’s list of the top boutique hotels in Gran Canaria.

1

Bohemia Suites & Spa

Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

The Bohemia Suites and Spa is a 67-room, adults-only luxury hotel in Playa del Ingles, roughly 200 yards from the beach. The lush El Siam Spa offers a full array of Thai-influenced bodywork and beauty treatments. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with royal palms and exotic flower gardens, as well as high privacy hedges that make the pool feel perfectly remote. Rooms and common areas are designed in luxe high style, with bright modern furniture and atmospheric lighting (that some find a bit overwhelming). There are two freshwater pools and two restaurants (free breakfast is served in the rooftop one).

2

Morasol Suites

Puerto Rico, Caribbean

The Morasol Suites is an upscale 88-apartment complex that reflects the chic and shimmering Puerto Rico marina it overlooks. Unlike many hotels in this resort area, the Morasol maintains a relaxed and refined vibe, even during the busy summer months. Apartments are clean and contemporary, and most have sea-view balconies. Location means easier beach access but without the stunning vistas of the hilltop hotels.

3

Hotel Revoli

Puerto Rico, Caribbean

The Revoli Aparthotel is an upper-mid-range, 181-apartment property built near the bottom of the mountainside that overlooks Puerto Rico Bay. Its bottom of the hill location means easy access to Puerto Rico's town center and the sandy beach, though this also means the views aren't as spectacular as they are from other hotels higher up. Most of the clean, modern apartments have balconies with views of the sea. They all come with kitchenettes -- but Wi-Fi and TV usage cost extra. While the Revoli is a decent choice, there are less-expensive hotels in the area with about the same level of services, so travelers might want to compare rates with the Hotel Riosol or ClubHotel Riu Vistamar.
