This historic home turned bed and breakfast in East Hampton is meticulously maintained and decorated. Although it's just a short walk from the village center, it remains a hidden gem that stays open year-round. The owners, Gary and Sylvia, have included their personal touches in the 10 rooms and suites, right down to the stuffed Gordon Setters on each bed and photography on the walls. The location is not directly on the beach and rooms come at a high price, but the top-notch breakfast and easy walk to restaurants and shops make it a stand-out option.
This year-round bed and breakfast is a peaceful respite -- not ideal for partiers
The Mill House Inn is a charming bed and breakfast that is heavy on personal touches. Because of its size and wealthy clientele, it appeals to peace-and-quiet seekers rather than partiers or families with young kids. The front porch lined with French doors lends itself to a good book, and the vintage board games can be played while sipping an espresso. The grounds and rose garden also provide areas to sit back, relax, and get lost in the rich history of this craftsman home (it was built in 1790).
A centuries-old historic home just steps from the village of East Hampton
It is easy to drive right past this historic home on a main road in East Hampton -- but once you see the long row of French doors that open onto the front porch, it can’t be missed. The property lacks an oceanfront location or a pool, but has a serene setting within walking distance to all of the East Hampton action.
Ten Individually themed rooms and suites, plus a four-bedroom private house
Choose from one of the 10 individually themed rooms and suites. In addition, the Graybarn Cottage is a four-bedroom private house available for rent, just a short distance from the inn.
Rooms are unique in decor and named after a theme, such as the America’s Cup and Hemingway. Suites offer more amenities such as a wet bar, refrigerator, and microwave, as well as a more advanced speaker system and in-room breakfast option. All beds come with a signature black stuffed animal that represents Corry, the owners' dog and the mascot of the property. Because the owners are dog lovers, they allow four-legged friends in the suites that have their own entrances.
An impeccable year-round property with outstanding inn-style service
Highly acclaimed breakfast beats out other B&Bs
Breakfast is included with the cost of the room, but this is no ordinary meal. The extensive menu will likely please even the most discerning palate, and portions are huge; in fact, the inn’s breakfast is a consistent award-winner in the Hamptons. The stocked kitchen also offers gourmet coffee, espresso, and tea, as well an assortment of homemade cookies and snacks throughout the day.
