Add CommentOur Family of four stayed at GW in August and though the vacation was memorable and relaxing I would not say that this was even close to being one of the top hotels I have stayed at.
Obviously it was high season and the resort was full/maxed. The staff was hard working and very much in tune with real Aloha but there were inconsistencies and annoyances that I just haven’t been able to shake. Dirty room service trays in the hallway for 2 days, long lines to pay BIG money for cabanas, a gym so packed one morning that we simply left…
The grounds are absolutely fantastic but the room was just good. For the money and as part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection, I was expecting more luxurious rooms.
Having been to Hawaii more than a dozen times , I would say that I have definitely stayed in waaaaaay better places. To name a few Hyatt Kauai, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons (next door to GW). For me it all comes down to price/value and for about the same money or just a little more, I wish I had booked us into one of the aforementioned resorts.
Not All That Remarkable
