Add CommentMy mother and I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiin Village for a week back in October 2010. Everything was wonderful from the moment we stepped out of the cab at this resort. Staff is friendly and helpful, going out of their way to see that you have everything you need. We stayed in the Rainbow Tower on the 29th floor and had views of both the ocean and the city. The room was neat and clean..no bed bugs! Housekeeping was great, leaving extras (coffee, etc.) without us having to ask. You can stop anyone of the staff, no matter what their job position is, and they are eager to answer questions and be of service. The resort itself is beautiful with the different "towers" that you can shop or dine in. This is quite a large resort..so be sure to take the "map" you receive at check in so you don't get lost. You can schedule any activities you wish to take part in right at the travel desk. Activities include those offered at the resort or around the island itself. FYI..the fireworks display on Friday nights are like none I've ever seen. Wonderful! The beach is clean and not overly crowded. There are ample chairs and towels for guest use. If the ocean is not for you, the many pools this resort offers is bound to please. The Mandara Spa is very tranquil. Just the lighting and the aroma of this spa give relaxation. The food the restaurants offer is good, but of course high in price. We chose to eat our breakfast and lunch at the local I-Hop across the street and ate our dinner at the resort. If you're in the shopping mood there are plenty of vendor stands selling local or native items in the resort. Also you'll find such stores as Coach, Louis Vuitton, and Maui Diver inside the resort. Bottom line is the Hilton Hawaiin Village is a great resort, no matter if you're a couple...a family...or a mom and daughter like us. We made memories that will last a lifetime and would definitely return!
My 'group' consisted of myself, my wife and two daughters (6 years old and 7 months old). We like to travel and we've been around. The hotel is divided into several 'towers' with small stores sprinkled around them. Some towers are in better shape than others with the new ones hosting high end stores. The landscape is gorgeous and there are several good pools (7), particularly for younger children (the paradise pool has fun slides). The restaurants are quite good, but expensive - that is an Oahu curse as far as I know. Food can be good or affordable, not both. Your best bet for a cheap meal is to go to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, half mile away and endure the crowds. The Diamond Head tower is aging and needs redecorating and better maintenance (water pressure is fine, tube drainage is not). If you're not a 5 star hotel type it will do just fine. The bed is great (and new), the room is huge and the views are to die for. I was on the 14th floor with awesome views of the city and beach. Room service is quite effective and kept things organized and clean. Everyone I talked to from the hotel staff was nice and got what I wanted done. I would stay in this hotel again given the opportunity.
Beautiful resort..breathtaking beach..can't wait to go back!
