The 10 sexiest hotel spas on Oyster (2 of 14)

The facility encompasses a whopping 50,000 square feet and has 25 treatment rooms as well as its own pool and outdoor hot tubs.
There are a lot of things that make a spa great -- the range of services, the quality of the masseuses, the number of features. That's all well and good, and you can find the lists of our favorite spas in each city on our Hotel Spas page. But what makes a spa great isn't necessarily what makes a spa sexy. These spas, are, in a nutshell, stunning. These spas beckon you; just looking at the photos makes you calmer. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. No stress, no hassle -- which is just what you need.
First up, Terranea Resort. No other Los Angeles spa can compete with the Terranea's size or features, precisely because, well, it's not really in L.A. -- it's in Ranchos Palos Verdes, a ruggedly beautiful coastal enclave at L.A. County's southwestern tip. The three serene private treatment rooms, called VIP suites, are themed after the elements; the earth suite has a redwood sauna and shower, the fire suite has a fireplace, and the water suite (pictured) has a copper tub and views of the Pacific. The facility encompasses a whopping 50,000 square feet and has 25 treatment rooms as well as its own pool and outdoor hot tubs. The 50,000-square-foot neoclassical Spa Grande is the biggest in Hawaii -- and one of the top-rated in the U.S., thanks in large part to its extraordinary baths. They include five aromatic pools, a Japanese furo bath, cascading waterfall, Roman hot tub, and Swiss jet shower. The spa offers more than 100 treatments, including locally inspired signature therapies like the Pala'au Journey ($225 for 80 minutes). Use of the facilities is $55 for two hours (or free with a treatment)-- more than most spas charge for a whole day. Asian-inspired, plant-based treatments, such as the signature Sake Ki massage with ginger-and-black pepper ointment ($280 for 80 minutes); and stunning design using woods and stone make Sibui Spa one of the Greenwich Hotel's best assets. Sibui Spa features a lantern-lit pool under a 250-year-old wood and bamboo Japanese farmhouse roof. The 9,000-square-foot Remede Spa boasts beautiful facilities, an extensive service menu, and a serene 24-hour indoor pool complete with poolside drink and food service. For just $15 a day, all hotel guests can use the whirlpools, steam rooms, and saunas, plus relaxation rooms that serve chocolate truffles and champagne. Six Senses is one of the Dominican Republic's best luxury spas, and focuses on natural products, administering treatments with its own line as well as Sodashi skin care from Australia. Its serene, modern facilities, include a sauna, steam rooms, baths, showers and -- best of all -- massage cabanas and Jacuzzis overlooking the ocean. The Mandarin Oriental's 27,000-square-foot, two-story spa features 27,000 square feet, 17 treatment rooms, relaxation lounges, steam rooms, a hammam, a Vitality Pool with views of the Strip, a salon, and a separate Chinese Foot Spa for pedicures. Facials, massages, and body treatments range from $180 to $330. It's a small spa by Vegas standards, but one of the most decadent. The Lapis spa sits between the pool and the beach and looks like a shiny sapphire dropped from the sky. At 40,000 square feet, that's a pretty big rock. A $40 spa pass gets you into the locker rooms, Jacuzzis, cold pool, steam room, and sauna, which are gracefully laid out in a large, concrete subterranean lair. This gorgeous spa, with Asian accents and fresh orchids throughout, offers a full range of treatments, from manicures to massages. A 50-minute massage runs over $200, and most treatments are over $300. But if you purchase a spa treatment, you also get access to Experience Showers, an Amethyst Crystal Steam Room, and a Vitality Pool. (Only guests staying in suites have free access to these facilities; other guests can pay $50 per stay to use them.) For the ultimate in luxury, guests can book a private, 650-square-foot VIP spa suite that replicates an Asian-style home and has its own fireplace, elevated bath, steam shower, and dual massage beds. Spa-de-Vie is a destination unto itself. In addition to a huge range of massage therapies and face and body treatments, the spa plays host to the hotel's well-equipped fitness center and beautiful indoor pool, which you do not have to pay extra to use. Spa treatments range from a basic deep-tissue massage ($150 for 50 minutes) to the "Ultimate Day of Luxury," which costs -- wait for it, wait for it -- $795. There's even a kids' spa menu, with specials like the "Strawberry Ice Cream Pedicure" (which does not, rest assured, involve softening callouses with strawberry ice cream). Reliquary Spa in Hard Rock's swank HRH Tower is sleek and sophisticated, a coed Roman bathhouse, steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, 21 treatment rooms, and an extensive menu of massage therapies, body therapies, and facial treatments. Elegant relaxation rooms are equipped with magazines, TV, a fireplace, and superb tea.
