Add CommentWe were there in Oct. 2011 with 3 other couples. On the pro side, the staff were extremely friendly, especially if you tip. The pool was one of the best i have ever seen. The food was above par for an all inclusive resort. One the con side, yes there are 8 jacuzzis in the pool, but not one of them works. The beach was near the main part was not nice at all, you could just about walk in it because it was so rocky. There is another beach, that is just so-so. The outdoor beds were disgusting. The rooms were huge (we had a suite) but all of ours had these bugs in the bathroom, that no matter how many people we told, they stayed there. I happened to look at my pillow and it was black and dirty, when I requested another one they charged me like 3$ a day. The weather was disapointing, it rained 3 out of 7 days and for most of the day. There is also something called "heroes weekend" in october, where the locals can come for dirt cheap, the resort was jam packed and not a fun place to be then. Overall, I would not go back, but it is inexpensive and actually a fun place to go.
The nicest resort you want to go to. Food is great!!! Anyone who says different is just being mean and TOO PICKY!!!!
I had several business associates traveling with me, each of us had our own room. I received a Red Wrist band because I had been there before. One of the advantages was to have liquor or some type of dessert brought to the room. I did not receive anything the entire stay, nothing. Upon check out, I informed the clerk and she said "sorry about that"! Neither of my associates received any of the so called extra benefits for having the Red Wrist Band. Another advantage of having a Red Wrist Band is that one would be able to make reservations. Nevertheless, making reservations was just as useless using the Red Band. Your wait for a table is the same as any person that just walked into the restaurant.
My wife and I took our goddaughter and her mother to the Grand Palladium in April 2010. It was a beautiful resort and exceeded all of our expectations. The staff were wonderful. Because of them, my teenage goddaughter tells everyone who will listen that the people of Jamaica are the friendliest in the world. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. We were provided tremendous variety when choosing restaurants. We took advantage of the day trips and adventures which were available through the lobby and had a great time. We had signed up for the day trip to Negril. So many people had signed up for the trip that the sponsors asked for volunteers to accept a taxi tour of Negril. We volunteered and had that much more enjoyable an experience because of it.
The location is idyllic. The weather was great for our entire trip and a cool breeze blows in during the daytime.
My wife and I are not beach vacationers, but we had such a nice time that we are already considering a return. We think of the Grand Palladium Jamaica as a place we'd love to share with our family and friends.
Given the opportunity, you should choose this resort!
we stayed on Lady Hamilton side in Honeymoon suites, had a very rowdy wedding party above us. Asked to be moved and with in 10 minutes had a guy there helping us pack and move to a bigger and nicer 1 bedroom suite. Adult beach was nicest, did a lot of snorkling. Resort not crowded when were there. Really no bad things to say. Lots of walking but got to get your exercise somewhere. Wish they served something besides Red Stripe beer!! Sport bar open 24 hrs. but had to wake staff up to get served!! Kinda funny!
I found the resort to be perfectly located, about 45 mins to Negril or Mo'bay. The rooms were quite nice, the grounds were beautiful, although we were there in November, so they were finishing up some (i'm sure annual) renos, which did not bother us at all!!! The staff were all soooooooo friendly and helpful!Sure, they may not have been the speediest on special requests, but who really cares when you are on vacation in such a beautiful country! The food in the buffet was tasty, and the 3 a la cartes we went to were good too! Our favorite beach was sunset cove, which is on the lady hamilton side. We stayed on the Jamaica side, and nothing was more than 7-9 minutes walk.. Absolutely wonderful vacation, would definitely go back and recommend to friends!!
Horrible location, 45 minutes without traffic to Montego Bay, an 1 hr without traffic to Negril. Rooms are okay, A/C didn't work well, mini fridge was room temp, rooms need a lot of TLC and they were just built in 2008. Service was horrible. Expect to wait for anything. We asked to upgrade our room on Wednesday, they told us to come back on Saturday. No name brand liquor and the food was disgusting. The only thing we would eat at the resort was the omelets in the morning, everything else was gross and cold to top it off. Several times I saw bartenders sneaking drinks to landscapers and kitchen staff. The only thing this place had going for them was the JUTA taxi company in the lobby, they were the nicest people at the whole resort. I've traveled to many places all over the world and Jamaica was a terrible experience, not just the resort.
so-so resort
