No reception area
Nirvana on the Beach is a tiny property, and while there is a small office near the beach, there is no formal reception area or lobby. Guests enter from the highway, and are greeted at the gate and escorted to their rooms from there. Lush foliage surrounds the property's various cottages and other low-rise buildings that house the rooms. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, with charming touches that include hammocks and a tiki hut.
Centrally located on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach
Located on busy Norman Manley Boulevard, Nirvana on the Beach stands out with its bright sign and lush gardens and greenery. Tucked between a number of other hotels, the small property is next door to several bars and restaurants, and many attractions are a short drive away. The hotel's central location on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach makes it easy to walk to many restaurants, which is much safer than walking along the busy highway.
Cottages with full kitchens; suites and a standard room are also available
Although the hotel does have one standard room and several suites, the best value is definitely the cottages and studios. While not particularly modern, the cottages are still charming, with screened-in sitting areas, private bedrooms, full kitchens, and extras that include books, Wi-Fi, and plenty of towels. Suites and bedrooms are smaller with less amenities, though they still include private entrances, kitchenettes or microwaves and coffee makers, and garden or ocean views. A beachfront owner’s villa is also available, which gets you a full kitchen and separate dining, living, and sleeping areas. Cook service for one meal per day is included in the price of the owner's villa and the cottages, though guests must provide the food to be prepared.
A private beach, but few other amenities
Nirvana on the Beach is quite small and lacks the amenities found at many nearby hotels. The property does have a private beach area, lush gardens, several outdoor seating areas (including a tiki hut), and a small playground for children. The hotel also owns several kayaks that can be loaned out to guests. Drivers are available for tours, grocery shopping, and transportation around Negril, and the office can help set up nearby activities such as scuba diving, cliff jumping, and snorkeling.
Designed for travelers who want to explore, Nirvana on the Beach is a solid pick for families, large groups, and guests who plan to spend most of their time checking out the beach and other attractions instead of hanging out at the hotel. With a central location on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach, the property is walking distance from a variety of shops, bars, and dining options. The hotel itself is lacking a restaurant, a pool, and other public amenities commonly found at properties in the area. The majority of the room types have full-size kitchens and plenty of space, making a stay at Nirvana feel more like renting a short-term apartment than visiting a resort.
