1

Geejam

Port Antonio, Jamaica

These five high-tech villas on a remote mountaintop are cut off from prying eyes by thick stone walls or dense flora. Designed for utmost privacy, there's no communal pool, lobby, or front desk. Service is by request only, and each room comes with a cell phone so guests can call anyone from room service to the free staff driver to the hotel's owner. The rooms are self-contained sanctuaries with in-room massages, free Wi-Fi, and Apple TVs. Frenchman's Cove, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, is 10 minutes away.

2

The Caves

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

With its exclusive boutique vibe and dramatic cliffside setting, The Caves is considered one of Jamaica’s most romantic escapes. The 11 unique, private cottages and suites at this upscale all-inclusive property unfold along lush garden paths and dramatic seaside cliffs carved with steep stairways down to the water and into incredible grottos. There’s a clifftop bar, a grotto bar, and private candlelit cave dining on offer. Top-notch food celebrates local ingredients, and the scene is laid-back and bohemian -- suited to travelers who appreciate outdoor showers and artful decor in favor of conventional luxury. However, stays here don't come cheap.

3

GoldenEye

Oracabessa, Jamaica

The 21-room GoldenEye is hands down Jamaica's hippest and most luxurious resort. It's also one of the island's most historic, as the former home of Ian Fleming, and the hideaway at which the author scribed all 14 of his James Bond novels. Today, the property includes stunning cottages and villas overlooking a private beach and lagoon, as well as two happening restaurants, two pools, a tree house spa, and an extensive roster of on-site activities. Its intimate size, luxurious rooms with water views, and beautiful, quiet beach make it a premier luxury pick for couples.

4

Hermosa Cove – Jamaica’s Villa Hotel

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Hermosa Cove is a nine-room resort with an eco-friendly vibe on the beach in Ocho Rios. There is a personal, homey atmosphere here, from cooked-to-order meals made with locally sourced ingredients (some of which are grown in the resort's gardens) to the artful wooden carvings throughout the property. Despite its close-to-nature attitude, there are luxurious touches in the colorful villas, and amenities can include private pools, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs. The environment is quiet and peaceful -- great for those looking to relax in a location away from the commercial resort party scene.

5

Round Hill Hotel and Villas

Hopewell, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Located on a remote beach and surrounded by carefully crafted flora, Round Hill's all-white rooms are beautifully designed by Ralph Lauren. They come with four-poster beds, freestanding soaking tubs, and private, oceanfront balconies -- no TV or radio distractions. The intimate, 24-hour infinity pool is built into a cliff's edge, and the spa is set in a stone-lined colonial-style mansion, far removed from the resort.

6

Sandals South Coast

White House, Jamaica

Sandals South Coast is a beautiful, secluded option for those seeking a laid-back all-inclusive in a less crowded area. The only hotel in Whitehouse, the resort is spread over a two-mile stretch of beach, and features European architecture, a wide variety of activities and entertainment options, and all of the amenities guests familiar with the brand have come to expect. Spacious and inviting, the resort is surrounded by 500 acres of wilderness preserve, making it quiet and very private. Guests who want to explore the local area will have fewer options than those staying at the Sandals properties in Negril and Montego Bay, but there are waterfalls, zip lines, and a variety of local tours, as well as the Appleton Rum factory and the nearby town of Whitehouse.

7

Secrets St. James Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica

This all-inclusive beachfront resort on a remote peninsula is one of the more luxurious adult-only options in Montego Bay, and has a laundry list of property features, including 10 restaurants, eight bars, an expansive spa, nearly half a mile of beach, and tons of activities: a theater, dive center, shopping plaza, casino, and game room. Secrets St. James shares most of its amenities with its sister property next door, but rates here are often a bit cheaper.

8

Sandals Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica

For couples seeking a luxurious, all-inclusive experience, with plenty of activities and dining options on-site, Sandals Montego Bay is a beautiful option, though it definitely does feel like the branded resort that it is. Large and expansive, with a long private beach and list of things to do, the resort is close to both the airport and downtown Montego Bay. Guests can enjoy restaurants and activities at the other two Sandals resorts nearby, providing even more options. The resort’s sprawling layout can be confusing to navigate, and the proximity to the airport can make the property noisy when planes go overhead, but with plenty of tours around the island and a number of restaurants, shops, and craft shows nearby, as well as local attractions, there’s plenty to do both on and off-site.

9
Aerial View

Ocean Cliff Hotel Negril

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

A peaceful and beautiful resort, The SPA Retreat Boutique Hotel was designed to be a true escape for couples and small groups that want to relax, be pampered, and enjoy a quiet experience. For adults only, the intimate hotel (maximum 47 visitors) features individual cottages, all-inclusive packages for dining at the on-site restaurant and bar, a variety of spa services, and an incredible view of the Negril cliffs and Caribbean. The hotel’s gorgeous design and luxurious treatments make it a great upscale option for weddings, health and wellness retreats, and special events, as well as travelers that simply want to escape and unwind in a tropical setting.

10

Sunset at the Palms

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

This adults-only, Bali-style getaway is designed for relaxing. Across the street from the beach, the upscale resort has a warm staff, intimate setting, and great food -- all of which create a mellow retreat that's a far cry from the crowded chaos at most all-inclusives. The eco-friendly bungalows and flower-filled grounds are the perfect escape for romantic couples.

11

Jakes

Treasure Beach, Jamaica

The trendy and luxurious Jakes consists of 84 hippy-chic cottages, rooms, and villas set along secluded Treasure Beach. Guests come here specifically to unplug -- there's no phone, Wi-Fi, or TV in guest rooms. Water’s edge treatments in the Driftwood Spa; on-site painting, mosaic, cooking, and yoga classes; and a revered restaurant serving top notch, farm-to-table food shapes Jakes as a one off gem that’s the farthest thing from hotel chain. There’s better food, intimate service, and a gorgeous remote location that’s far from the airport, but well worth the trip. Its craggy black-sand beach isn't spectacular, but there is a saltwater pool.

12

Tensing Pen Resort

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

With an intimate collection of 17 cottages (22 rooms), Tensing Pen is where guests come to unplug -- no TVs, phones, or radios in the rooms -- and enjoy the breathtaking cliffs of Negril's west end. The pool, spa, and restaurant are a little smaller than the ones at the similarly priced (and similarly styled) Rockhouse boutique hotel, but most guests prefer the quiet exclusivity found here.

13

Strawberry Hill

Kingston, Jamaica

This former coffee plantation nestled among the steep and winding hills of Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain is a little oasis above the very un-resort-like city of Kingston. The resort offers plenty of intimacy and privacy, with a dozen cottages on 26 acres. It also has the features of a larger property: an expansive spa, a breezy restaurant and bar, a hilltop pool with panoramic vistas, lush gardens, and ample relaxation space. Rates might be considered a steal given the property's level of luxury -- if it weren’t for the hard-to-access location and lack of beachfront.

14

Rockhouse Hotel

Negril Jamaica, Jamaica

The lush, laid-back Rockhouse features gourmet dining, morning yoga, a premium spa, and a jaw-dropping infinity pool poised over a cliff's edge, overlooking some of Jamaica's most beautiful sunsets. The eco-friendly buildings designed by Jean-Henri Morin organically emerge from volcanic rock cliffs, and duets of loungers are set 40 feet above the ocean. For even more intimate seclusion, book a private, thatch-roofed villa.

15

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall

Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Situated along Jamaica’s resort-heavy northwest shore, Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is one half of a two-resort beachfront Hyatt compound. Along with its sister property, Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, the two collectively offer a long list of communal amenities, including nearly a dozen restaurants, two large pools, and an oceanfront spa. The quiet, elegant vibe is what most guests would expect of a five-pearl, adult-only Jamaican resort. Each of its 234 rooms features a spacious floor plan and a bright, modern decor. Amenities include fully-stocked minibars, free Wi-Fi, luxurious marble bathrooms, and private balconies or terraces -- many with ocean views. For a luxury property, though, the small, man-made beach is surprisingly rough, rocky, and dirty.

16

Half Moon

Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica

With a private, two-mile-long crescent-shaped beach and a property that spans 400 acres, it's easy to find privacy at this luxury all-inclusive. Its expansive spa, scenic golf course, private horse stables, and large rooms with mahogany bed frames, slate showers, and large soaking tubs all lend to an elegant, distinctly Jamaican romance -- the kind where photo-worthy cuisine is served by tuxedo-clad waiters, and where a roving, softly playing mento band sets the tone.

17

Jamaica Inn

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, Jamaica Inn is one of the top of the island's top boutique hotels. In stark contrast to the neighboring all-inclusives and mega-resorts -- like Sandals Royal Plantation next door -- this upscale beachfront property is quiet, intimate, and relaxed. Decor throughout is a picture-perfect example of understated Caribbean elegance, with a soft color palette, chic marble details, and tasteful tropical accents. The list of amenities is typical of a four-pearl property, including a small, but immaculate pool; a wide, soft sand beach; an alfresco dining terrace; and a stunning, sea-view spa. The 48 suites and cottages include free Wi-Fi, high-end bathrooms, and water-view balconies (some with private plunge pools), and the lack of TVs and radios preserves the quiet, unplugged vibe.
