Bottom Line

The Aliante Casino + Hotel is a large, relatively quiet four pearl resort in the north part of Las Vegas. Not on the strip, it draws more locals than tourists, but it has all the same features of a Vegas Strip hotel, including a large casino, several restaurants, a spa, a large pool with a bar, nightclubs, a movie theater, and a concert hall. Rooms are modern and spacious, many with views of the surrounding desert and mountains. Expect to pay extra for Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa

Scene

A sleek, modern casino resort in a quieter part of town

The Aliante is modern and sleek, with a large tile lobby that blends curving sculptures with sharp, angular tables and furniture. Mostly decorated with earth tones, the hotel incorporates a number of textures and tones in the lobby, from the smooth, shiny tile to rough stone columns adorned with wooden geometric patterns. Blue decorative vases, modern chandeliers, and a large, multicolored painting behind reception add color to the room. Less trafficked than hotels on the main strip of Las Vegas, the lobby is cool and quiet, as is the expansive pool area, equipped with orange cushioned loungers and beds, as well as cabanas for rent. The hotel runs bar service by the pool as well, but the casino remains the most popular common area.

The hotel's wealth of restaurants channel a variety of aesthetics. The Salted Lime has a vague Latino flare, decorated in teal, red, and purple hues; the mid-range restaurant is not overly stylized, but relaxed and lively. MRKT is sleeker and more natural, incorporating a woodsy theme with wood paneling and green chairs, booths, and rugs. At the high end of the dining options, Bistro 57 serves a large wine list and a mix of continental and international cuisine around a sultry dining room of tufted banquettes and a sleek bar. Farm, which is open 24 hours a day, is plain and feels slightly cafeteria-like, with simple, corporate-looking wood tables and chairs, and oversize prints of grasses and flowers on the walls. As is common in Las Vegas, the resort has a large buffet, in addition to a food court with chains such as Panda Express, Johnny Rockets, and Orange Julius.

Location

In north Las Vegas, far from the strip

As far as Vegas hotels go, the Aliante feels rather isolated; the only other construction in the immediate area are houses and a few strip malls, the highway, and a park. The Vegas Strip is about 30 minutes away by car. Because of this, the Aliante seems to draw more local or semi-local crowds who know the area and simply are looking for a weekend away.

Rooms

Modern and spacious, with desert and mountain views

Rooms at the Aliante are spacious and stylishly decorated with a modern aesthetic; all have either desert or mountain views. With natural hues -- tans, browns, creams, etc -- all feel warm and inviting, regardless of tier. White linens on beds are accentuated by orange and green pillows, walls are adorned with abstract artwork, and some rooms have dark wood panelling. Standard rooms (called Deluxe) come with two queen beds or a king, and there's a cushioned bench by the window. The dark wooden desks are narrow and built into the wall, but the wood finish is sleek and modern. Bathrooms are large and similarly toned, with wood shelves, beige marble tiling, and a walk-in shower. In addition to Deluxe Rooms, the hotel has a number of extra-large suites, which come with kitchenettes and separate seating areas. Every room has a flat-screen TV and a mini-fridge with free water. Internet must be purchased.
