Add CommentI commute to Vegas about once a week for work, and as such, have stayed in almost all hotels in Las Vegas (including the Hard Rock). In my opinion, if someone were going to pick the Hard Rock as their hotel, they need to have very specific reason why they are doing so (i.e. entrance to Rehab in Sundays), otherwise, stay somewhere else. The rooms are really nothing to brag about (though I did just stay in the new Paradise Tower, which is slightly nicer than the Casino portion), the service is atrocious (even worse than other party hotels such as the Palms), the food choices are pretty bad (really just three not so great restaurants), and their clubs have seen better days (Body English isn't what it used to be). In fact, I'd even go as far as to say stay JUST the night you want to be there, and the rest of the time, stay anywhere else. The Hard Rock isn't cheap, and for the prices it charges, it should really give you much more.
Also, take note of the hotel's draconian policies. For instance, if you want a late check-out, the latest I have ever gotten them to do for free is until noon (and that can be a fight, regardless of their occupancy on the day you're planning to check out). And take note, if you're late checking out, expect a $100 charge PER HOUR levied to your room (it's in the terms you agree to when you check in). In addition, make sure to add $7.84 per night ($7 plus taxes) to your room rate as a "resort charge." What that provides you, I'm not really sure since you'll still have to pay for the internet, gym, and basically anything else that other hotels in Vegas charge you for but don't make you pay that stupid fee.
Think about why you're staying here
