Bottom Line

Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino is a mid-range casino hotel that caters to budget travelers who don't mind (or even prefer) being a 20-minute walk away from the action on The Strip. The 327 rooms are pleasant, and they come with air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs. Though there are no microwaves of coffeemakers, mini-fridges can be requested. The star attraction is the on-site casino, which offers around 800 games plus a sports book. There's also a small fitness center, a lagoon-style pool with a hot tub, two bars/restaurants, and free Wi-Fi and parking, plus a free shuttle to the airport. Travelers who want to be right on The Strip may want to look into a stay at Circus Circus Hotel & Casino, which often offers deeply discounted rooms.

Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino

Scene

Mid-range casino hotel with dark interiors and pretty grounds lined with plants

Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino is the renamed iteration of what was previously referred to as Terrible's Casino until a $7 million renovation in 2013 transformed the faded property into a snazzier, but still decidedly mid-range casino hotel. The exterior has a vaguely Mediterranean look, with tera-cotta hued siding and a few Juliette-style balconies, archways, and towers to add to the feel. The interiors are simple and dark, with patterned carpeting in the long hallways that lead to rooms, while the grounds feel much like an apartment building, with a mix of paved pathways and manicured areas with grass and tropical plants. The buffet restaurant has a bit of a 1970s vibe, with orange leaf-patterned floors and a notable lack of windows, though the addition of trees stung with fairy lights add an enchanting touch. Most guests are budget travelers willing to forego a central location right on The Strip in favor of cheap room rates and free parking.

Location

A 20-minute walk off The Strip, across from a shopping center and near plenty of restaurants

This hotel is located across the street from Paradise Shopping Center, and within a 10-minute walk of plenty of chain restaurants (Panera Bread, Starbuck's, Buca di Beppo Italian). It's about about a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from The Strip, and it's a straight shot down East Flamingo Road to the famous Bellagio Fountains. The Neon Museum and downtown Las Vegas can take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes to reach depending on traffic, while getting to the Las Vegas Convention Center only takes about five minutes by car. It also takes only around five minutes to get to the McCarran International Airport by car, and the hotel operates a free airport shuttle that runs every half hour or so.

Rooms

Air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, some with patios

Along with a handful of Suites, this hotel offers three room types: Premium, Tower, and Patio -- all with one king-size bed or two queen-size beds. There's not a huge difference between the three room types, except that Tower Rooms are a little larger than their Premium counterparts and have prettier decor, with mottled gold-hued wallpaper and elegant bathrooms with elegant light fixtures, a notable upgrade from the plain decor scheme found in Premiums (think pastel accent walls and simple bathrooms). Patio Rooms add patios, ideal for smokers. All rooms come with similar amenities, including 42-inch flat-screen TVs with Pay-Per-View movies, air-conditioning (that can be noisy), and free Wi-Fi. Mini-fridges and irons/ironing boards are available on request. Rooms lack coffeemakers, though free coffee is available in the lobby. Bathrooms feature wall-mounted hairdryers and shower/tub combos, but only simple toiletries are provided. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available and pet-friendly rooms are also available, on request.

Features

Casino with 800-odd games, outdoor pool with hot tub, simple gym, and two restaurants -- one open 24/7

As the names suggests, the main feature of Silver Sevens is its on-site casino, complete with around 800 games (both slots and table games) plus a race and sports book. The other amenities are decent too. There's a medium-size outdoor lagoon pool flanked by lounge chairs and palm trees, with a few cabanas available, plus an adjacent whirlpool hot tub for cooler days. There's also small fitness center with a few treadmills and weight machines.

Along with 24-hour room service, Silver Sevens offers three different dining outlets. The main restaurant is the 24-hour Sterling Spoon Cafe, which features a variety of American and Chinese dishes. S7 Buffet offers weekend brunches and buffet dinners on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's closed the rest of the week. There's also a bar, Corona Cantina, with video poker and a good beer, wine, and liquor selection, plus bar food.

Other features include free property-wide Wi-Fi, free on-site surface parking, and a free shuttle service to and from the airport, which runs at fixed times from early morning until well into the evening.
